i have a reminton 700 sps in 300 win mag with a problem. every few shots a casing will get stuck after firing. thought it was the bolt at first. so i polished the bolt lugs, greased and tried again. same problem. then thought the action was heating up and making the get stuck. but i just tried a spent case in the gun just now, dead cold, and that case stuck too!just finished cleaning the entire rifle. it is spotless. how do i prevent my cases from sticking? do i need a gunsmith? this happens with fedral premium and winchester shells.

A friend of mine had the same thing happen in a 7mm mag. Turned out there was a burr in his chamber that was sticking the shells. He had to get the chamber polished (or honed, not sure which is the correct term)
If it's a new gun it should be done under warranty. His was. Good luck.:)

I had the same thing happen with a 700 (also in .300 Mag) years ago.
Chambered fine but locked up like Fort Knox as soon as the trigger was pulled on a factory load.
Brass looked perfectly normal once the action was "tapped" open.
I ran it right back to where I had purchased it and walked out with a fresh one off the rack.

Take some of your once fired brass along because they're going to want to see it.
Hopefully you're not shooting handloads.
If you are then all bets are off......

Attach a 16 gauge bore brush to a cleaning rod, then attach that to a power drill. Insert the brush into the chamber, and turn the drill on. Instant chamber polish.

That being said, if you can get the work done under warranty, do that first.

great idea with the self polish job. the gun is off warranty, so i'm on my own. what type of brush should i use? brass?

I would just use a copper one at first, and if that doesn't fix it, move to brass. Don't use a steel brush though. It'll work "too well".

polished the chamber with a copper brush. just got in from a test run, rifle works great now! brass comes out everytime. thanks again hansol.
