Bad gunsmith job

I had my pistol sent by my dealer to a Sprinfield Armory autorized gunsmith to repair a jam. The recoil spring slipped and the slide jammed half way back. :(

My XD9 came back last week and when I picked up my pistol I had a very bad surprise :eek:

It was like new when my dealer shipped it but look at all the scratches this assho** gunsmith did :mad:

jesus, I'd be pissed too. that's not acceptable. But unless you can prove it was not like that before you sent it, I doubt there is anything they will do for you.
 
I'd consider putting some heat on your dealer. Who else can be held accountable and this guy should know that he's apparently dealing with a ####tard that he's got doing service and support. That's complete bull#### and I personally would have already chewed a few new ones over this.
 
I would be more pissed at the fact that springfield armoury sold you a piece of crap that jammed solid!
The scratches are here nor there the fact that you got a club when you payed for a pistol is the real crime here.

I have said it before and I will say it again, when you buy american guns you get american guns.

Hope it is reliable for you now best thing to do is just shoot it alot and often then the cosmetic injuries you do it will hide the cosmetic marr the smith did.
 
This is a good reason to take pics of your firearms (or anything going for warranty work) before shipping it off so you can prove the condition it was in when sent in.

I always do this just in case.;)

The XD is actually made in Croatia, of all places.
 
I didn't send the pistol to the distributor by myself. The store owner where I bought it did and he saw no scratches on the gun when he sent it.
I called the distributor directly today (they sent the gun to the "#$% gunsmith for repair) and they asked me to send pictures. The guy on the phone remembered my xd and told me there was nothing on the gun' slide when they send it to the "#$%% guy.
I think the pistol was sent back directly to the store after repair without going to the distributor for inspection !
The guy on the phone told me he will do some investigation to see what happened and that he will try do correct the situation ... he left no clue on what are his intentions

The scratches are deep to the metal so they won't go away with some oil or cleaning. Slide finish on those guns are on the weak side !
 
Sorry to hear of this crap happening to you.
Myself,I would be very, very upset.
I would start with the dealer who shipped the gun.
If I didn,t get satisfaction there,I would move on to the repair depot,the distributor and then Springfield.
Be nice and if they won,t help,then become relentless till they do something about it.
Somebody scratching up my gun would definitely have me coming out swinging with both dukes up.
 
:eek It's one thing to mark up the gun yourself but when some 'professional' does it while undergoing warranty work, Jeepers....:mad: Makes you wonder. I hope you get the matter resolved to your satisfaction.
 
Wow, that's bad work. It seem your store owner and the distributor are on your side. There is nothing to do other than polish and refinish the slide. Hope this will be resolved in a manner acceptable to you.
 
Sounds like your distributor and retailer have your best interests in mind. I expect it will get resolved to your satisfaction, but if not, I for one would not want to use that smith for any work on my toys:mad: . I expect that this would be the case for other CGN'rs as well.. It would be a shame to have his business practices made aware to the shooting brotherhood:rolleyes: . Just imagine what impact having his name mentioned would have:eek: ? No sense in saying anything until you have the matter resolved and in a manner that is acceptable to you.

I prefer not to tell his name yet because I had no feedback from the distributor. Maybe they will solve the problem correctly.
If they don't you can be sure nobody on the board will not know his name and store adress.

And I'm also sure you're safe. I think You live in BC and the bad gunsmith is somewhere in QC prov.;)
 
I finally got a phone call from my local gunshop. FN Sport sent my refinished slide today.

I'll get it this weekend. I hope Springfield did a good job to justify this long waiting period.
