I have a 15-22. Im new to AR type rifles.
Just wondering if there is a lever that when pushed, holds the bolt open? Ive tried the BAD lever and works great for closing the bolt but on the 15-22 when I want to lock the bolt back to clear jams, I have to switch grips to push the paddle the other way to lock the bolt back.
My guess is the 15-22 bolt lock is different than a real AR.
However Ive seen a few training vids and they all clear jams with switching grips.
Any help would be fantastic please.

The advantage of the BAD lever is that one can lock the bolt back without changing your grip.
As the bolt is retracted with the charging handle, the BAD lever is pushed up.

Bad Lever causes a lot of issues with reliability...

That was my experience when I had a Norinco. It would lock back after each shot, turning my AR into a straight-pull bolt action. Dropped that piece and never had another issue.

Sweeping statement is sweeping.

Properly installed it shouldn't cause any reliability issues.
I've had three brands installed on various rifles (the original BAD, Magpul and now the Phase 5)
Of the three the Magpul craptastic plastic version was the worst. It did not fit all rifles...
The Phase5 is the best I've used so far... It comes with it's own bolt catch so there's no fiddle farting around fitting the lever to a paddle and making sure of clearances...

Nope, bad levers are bad voodoo. 99% of those who got one dumped it, because they cause issues, they cause issues because the original lever was never designed to have some long-ass #### bolted to it.

There is nothing wrong with the stock lever.

Why the hell do AR newbies always want to bolt tons of unnecessary #### to their AR's?

I go with the philosophy of Any gun, anywhere anytime. Ar's don't come with them so why put one on your gun? I get the idea of why someone would like one, its just not for me. JMTC

I didn't find it very useful... Doesn't do anything positive and adds a level of mechanical complexity. It's sitting in the parts bin somewhere, assuming I didn't sell it and forget about it lol

.22 AR uppers generally don't lock back on last shot, so the BAD Lever is kinda useless, least that is the way mine is. They do work great on my centerfire AR's though.

Well... Some of us will have to agree to disagree.

Mine works and that's all that matters to me
YMMV.

It comes in very handy when dumping the rifle during a stage. And makes unloading and showing clear very fast and easy.

There are two groups.
1, those who have had problems.
2, those who will have problems.
(there is a third but it includes unicorns and listening to people who wear out ARs)

Likely best to seek out proper manipulation drills from a qualified user/instructor. You will find that item is not beneficial in any way. Never been a fan of clogging up the trigger area with anything but the finger.

Just my 2 cents.

I'd add a fourth group... Those who don't know how to install or if necessary tweek their BAD.
