Bad Luck Tikka T3

If you didn't fire it or alter it in any way, I would simply return it for a full refund...don't let them play the "warranty" card.

Pisses me off when retailers pass the buck like that...customer service is becoming a rare thing these days.

I seen a new tikka that the barrel became loose enough to unscrew completely by hand. I think it had been fired around 100 times before the owner noticed it loose. He reported bad accuracy. Tikka replaced his rifle after returning it 'fixed' once. Apparently it still shot like crap. But they did give him a new rifle eventually

this doesnt sound like as severe of an issue. take it back to the store and show them, they should be able to help you out

PS, turnaround on the warranty work was about 3-4 weeks in this case

...post it on the EE with an asking price of 50$ more than what you paid new. Even after you state the problem you'll score a sale from someone who just won't believe that a Tikka could possibly have a hiccup :p The Tikka T3 "nuthuggery" on this site is unbelievable :runaway:.

Seriously though I would take the rifle back to the store where purchased immediately and demand an exchange.

Good luck,
Mad Mikey.

P.S. ...disclaimer----the cheeky lil' EE suggestion above was a joke.

X2

I would say replace the rifle with another one or take a full refund. I wouldnt mess with altering or fixing anything. Its brand new, never been shot. Why should you have that. I dont think it takes months for the rifles to be fixed. If the dealer is reputable, they would of offered to replace the rifle anyways in my books.

I have a few Tikka T3 LS models (bought in 2004) and never a problem. And I reload to boot.

If it was a 338 Federal, I know where there is a new one for under $700 ($669 I beleive) that is a laminate stainless.

Hi all,

Thanks for the input, the gun has not yet been fired, but I am a little reluctant to ask for a refund because the guys there gave me a pretty good deal (WSS price $870, I got it for $700 new)

I am just hoping the rifle gets replaced, I would rather not own a new gun which needed to have the bolt and/or received machined or altered a second time.

Cheers

Id say you got a lousy deal. Take it back for a refund and get something that works right.

Bought a Rem 700 last year at Epp's it had a minor proplem that most shooters probably would have never noticed, took-it back and walked out with brand new one no hassels, just looked after 100 %

Same bad luck here.... well my brothers anyways.

Wow, thats strange.... My brother just purchased a new tikka T3 camo as well and like you, had a bolt problem right off the start. He said it wasn't buttery smooth like he was expecting. So he called Tikka who in turn told him to ship it to them, so he could have warranty work done. What a pain in the butt, all excited to finally get it, and didn't even get to fire it once. Leaves me wondering if i should even look their way now. Don't quite know how long hes gonna have to wait to get it back, but i'm figuring he might be waiting a while like yourself. I would like to think not all Tikka's are that bad, just a couple of lemons i guess.

My Tikka T3 Camo Stainless has worked flawlessly, as have my other Tikkas, so I expect it is a simple case of a botched factory job or (worst case) a bad batch of rifles. Could happen to any firearm of any brand.
