Bad News for AR enthusiasts

thats the truth right there, as a guy who wants an AR-15 but it will be a while before I am able to get one, all this news seems very disconcerting. I had my mind made up as to the configuration I wanted but now it seems like I'll have to re-think the "dream machine" or just cowboy up and get a non-res. Black/Green Spec.
 
FWIW Krieger AR 15 HBAR and Varmatch match replacement barrels are chambered in what is called a "5.56 Match" chamber. This is a SAMMI spec 223 Remington, but with a throat to accomodate 80 grain SMK's. It is NOT 5.56 Nato and I have no trouble obtaining them. They can also be obtained unchambered.
 
Are these restrictions because of the war? I mean what is causing the tightening of export regs? If it is because of the war can we expect them to relax the rules once the war is over? Just wondering.
 
Armalite's chambers are Dual chambers. If it's marked 5.56mm, it's good for both Military and civilan ammo, if it's marked .223, it's only good for the civi ammo.

My AR180B say's that right in the manual, in the description of the armalite chamber in that it's unique.

They are Here to stay till a change in policy maker's in the US happens that are gun friendly

I'd wager a guess it has more to do with "the war on terror" and the U.S "beefing" up it's security. Bureaucratic shenanigans aren't limited to Canada. This way in turn the U.S can also tout they're preventing small arms smuggling.

More like its here to stay OUR goverment does something about the terrorists coming into the country as "immigrants" and "refugees". Could start by telling Quebec they can't allow anyone they want anymore and deporting first the Khadr family as a symbolic gesture.

ITAR -- its a way to tell the UN to F off with their Arms crap they wish to impose worldwide.

Frankly Canada has a spotty record for arms controls, and admittedly so does the US. Nothing like Iran or China though.


Frankly most of the non US made AR stuff is crap.
