Not one to be seen. I'm just 8 km north of Delhi, ON. Last year there were lots to be seen. This year, i was out before day break. Not even one goble. I even set up near a cornfield.

Weather was hot, and very windy. Even my wife said she didn't hear any gobles, as she is up and gone to work by 6am. Anyone see a turkey, or hear one? or even better, bag one? :dancingbanana: Pics are welcome!

I was hunting within the vicinity of you! I didn’t get anything but I did see one Jake! . . . I know there are lots of turkeys around I could hear the gobbles! Lots of gun shots too! :shotgun:. . . Just think lots of time left to hunt! Good luck! I know I’ll need it too!

they maybe busy with hens, and not respond to your calling.
Give it a couple of days when they are bored with the ones they are with,
(happens in the human population also)
and they will move around again.

deathly quiet in Cayuga....
Brother an I went out, me for coyotes and he for turkeys. After about 9:00 we were relocating and I actually managed to call 3 raccoons to within 5 feet of us using my mouse sqeaker. Boy did they ever come running. Never seen anything like that before. Saw one turkey poop.

On another note, couldn't take one step withut coming across deer tracks....

Was out in Brant County this morning, the birds were not vocal at all and would not respond to any calling. So that kind of blows. Saw two birds but couldn't sneak to set up on them or even call so today was a bust for me. I was out from 5:30am-7pm! O well.

Was out just NE of Mount forest on Saturday morning to do a little speck fishing opener, and turkey scouting for this coming Weekend's turkey hunt.

Heard two gobblers at sun up while fishing, and two hours later saw one at around 500 yds and gobbling his fool head off out in the open.:D(know where I'll be)

Cant hunt till the weekend.:(

I managed to get out to my Uncle's farm in the Lanark Highlands early Sunday morning. Found a tom gobbling his head off @ 6:00am. Ended up scouting around the property & located 2 toms. One had 3 hens with him & the other was alone. Put one to bed Sunday night & was ready to drop the hammer early Monday morning. Well it turned out to be an exciting morning, but the tom wasn't interested in my hen & jake decoys. He ended up having 5 hens roosted with him. One of the hens came & checked out my dekes, but no amount of yelps or excited cackles would lure the tom away from the hens. He just strutted up & down the field before the hens lead him away. Kind of a disappointment as I was hoping my good friend Tracy was going to get to take his first turkey. We tried to circle around to intercept them but a yote appeared & chased them back the other way . We lost contact with them & went back to the farmhouse for breakfast & coffee. Tracy couldn't stay to hunt, but I tried to find the turkeys after breakfast. No dice! A real gale of a wind blew up in the afternoon & all the turkeys seemed to disappear. I went out in the evening to listen for gobbling, but all I heard were owls & loons. I went out Tue. morning again, but didn't hear any gobbling. I spent the morning going from spot to spot calling & waiting until it began to rain. The rain cleared up in the afternoon, but I still couldn't locate any birds. I think the wind storm pushed them into the other concession . Oh well, I will try again this coming weekend.

I was given permission to hunt on a place in 78b today. My God I was deaf after 5 hours of gopling. Farmer would never allow hunters in. He's allowed me in now and they are everywhere. Lots of hens to keep the Toms busy is the problem and they aren't interested so far in decoys. I went in for the first time this morning and walked right under a roost and damn near s**t myself! Only problem is I can't take a buddy in to show this is Turkey Mecca.

It was like Heaven today even though I didn't bag one!!!!!!!!

You are a lucky guy....

Sometimes they choose to be quiet. I have bagged more than one bird that came in silent, and I had thought there wasn't a bird for miles...:D

They are there, you must be patient. I always have better luck in May...

I think I hate turkey hunting. I had to wake up at 3am to get to the Ganaraska forest by 6. And nothing. :( I will try again next Tuesday.

Been out twice now and both times I knew where they were roosted. I can hear them gobble from 05:00 till about 06:30 and I can hear them fly down (prob 300-400 yrds away). I can't seem to get them to come in my direction yet. I have seen them go by where I sit before the season. So far I have tried heavy and light calling.

I can also hear a old boss hen going to town near the roost and I suspect that hen is pulling the Toms away.

You will most likely secretly hate my guts, but this was my first time out hunting and I got a turkey yesterday. Had scouted a good spot on our farm property couple weeks ago but never heard or saw any turkeys, but I knew there were lots from in previous years.

Took a chance yesterday and went after chores at 10am. Lone gobbler snuck down field towards my decoy after hour and bit of calling. He actually seemed to go past the decoy and come towards me - it was self defense! He never gobbled, or even strutted. Had him back at house in time for lunch.

Not secretly, we hate you very openly! ;)
