Badger Hunting

I was just wondering if anyone has any special tips or techniques for hunting badger and weasels?

I've never heard of anyone hunting weasels (trapping efforts aside), but badgers will respond to critter-in-distress calls (as used for hunting predators like coyotes, fox, etc) and I imagine weasels would, as well.

gonefishin, you need a trapping licence in Alberta for weasels, badgers are fair game year round on private land though.
Besides, It might be easier to go out and hunt wolves than to deliberately hunt weasels :D

Do some reading on predator hunting forums, they’ll get you pointed in the right direction.

Don't put your hands in the holes..
No matter how dead you think the Badger is.
Never saw a need to hunt Weasels. Have a friend who raises exotic birds. He traps Weasels (They kill lots of his birds). Never heard of anyone hunting them.

find where the gophers are and set up camp. spot the gopher field for a couple hours in the morning for a couple of different days. if you don't see anything move on.

I've gone years without seeing badgers and then I see 2 in one day. I tend not to shoot badgers unless the farmers want them gone.

Shot two badgers while gopher hunting in Western Manitoba. Watched one dig it's self underground in a matter of 20 seconds. It reappeared a short time later when I shot it with my 222. Tough to kill as they are shaped funny, kind of flat as the vitals are not where one would expect. These two were the only live badgers I have ever seen...mean looking animals!
