6.5X47lapua is a great round, even edge the 260. I myself also have ask them couple time, but one could optain after market barrel(6.5) and get your smith to do it. not very difficult. I have done the 260 for my rem700, tikka t3, styer Pro hunter.
IF they had this in stock....Id be taking my wife out for supper for a couple days!! Wolverine is VERY famous for this.....This is the problem with our so-called "distributors" here in Canada. Most want your money in hand first before purchasing product they should already have on hand. Its Bull$hit to put the onus on the consumer to fill a minimum quantity before an order will be even be placed.
I went through this with Wolverine a couple years ago when inquiring about an M2008 SA. Same story then...
Sad part is I'm sure they sit there and wonder why is no market here in Canada for this product. Maybe if they would order 5 actions with their own capital and actually have stock on hand they may even sell a few...![]()
Here's my take on it , in the US everything is cheaper than in the rest of the world , just because it makes sense in the US , dosnt mean it will to the rest of the world , so as I said once you pay extra tax & import fees etc on imported US gear , the ACTIONS need to be something different .
And to me to start with it was that " maybe " , if the planets aligned I would have AI clones at 1/2 the price of the real thing , and I ordered mine just before the US made FFL Export fees go thru the roof , the planets did not align , and when all was said and done , i eneded up with rifles that where very , very close to AIs in cost once built , realise , I used Bartlein barrels etc , and had them cerocoated etc , it all added up to a expensive build , and they are not as good as my real AIs .
BUT I also brought because , their was one thing I could do with these that you cannot with a AI rifle , that is drop them into a normal , grip fibreglass stock , and you can , with a McMillan or Manners , and in say 243 , would make a mean varmint gun , with 10rd AW mag , running Badger or other bottom metal for AI mags .
However , doing the above , you will be still a heavy rifle , the best for me is the NEW GAP Tempest action , not much heavier than a Rem700 , but with some nice AW type feature set .
SO in short IF you want a AI type rifle , get the real one , if you want a lighter tac/varmint for comps etc , get a GAP Tempest action or rifle from GAP .
RE , barrels from sporting services , some are AI some are not , I think the 6.5mm barrels are not AI , however , the 308 , 243 & 7mm08 are ?
The barrels that Sporting Services sells are Lothar Walther barrels I found out this morning. The ones offered by AI USA are made by Bartlein. We are looking into possibilities to get barrels for you.
p.s. sorry J996, I have an answer mostly typed out for you at work and simply ran out of time to complete it before end of day.
Thanks for the response Guy. Are you not able to bring in a single action if somebody puts down a deposit? Say with a regular order of Badger accessories?
And how did I ever miss your sale of AI products?!! If you happen to find an AICS 2.0 short action chassis with the old style (classic) stock sides hiding in the back, please let me know.![]()

My gunsmith did it, cant tell you how much he removed but a good part of the "V" has to go...
Makes sense! V-block doesn't make too much sense for that massive flat bottom!
