Does anybody know the time frame for Badger's release of their 10 round magazine conversions for the Remington 700 platform? Tried emailing them, but haven't heard back and they just say that they're "coming soon" on their web site.

Anybody hear anything? Anything on expected retail price?

I've got a build on the go and am waiting for the above conversion so I can do final stock fitting, etc... Keeping my fingers crossed it will be soon.

I have the HS system... it is less than perfect but it does work. The AI system I used to have was better. I've been thinking of trying the Vbull conversion but heard that there might be a few bugs still to be sorted out with it or something like that, might have been that it was too wide for some stocks. I've got to look into it more.

Have had the same problem with Badger on the 10 round mag. As for HS, they will no longer ship 10 round mags to Canada according toa few builders here that I have spoke with about it.

I was looking at the Badger kits as well they look sold and accept AI mags. You have to widen the bottom of your stock to get the Badger to work properly. That being said does anyone know if PGW makes a detachable mag system that can be dropped in a Rem rifles. I have seen pictures of their actions with the detachable mag system but don't know if they sell only the Mag system on its own.

Who is V bull and can someone give the spec of there mag system? What magazines are used? how to get one
anyone use them?

I tried the HS Precision system and wasn't that happy with it. The 5 round Badger mag system seemed to work much better, so I figure they can probably do a 10 round system just as well.

I've also heard the V-Bull system can be a little finicky, but have no first hand experience with them. Anyone use it, have picks and what is the retail price for the system? Who is a stocking dealer in Canada?

As far as I know, only the 5 round Badger Ordnance detachable mag system is currently available, does anyone know if this has changed?

10 shot conversion

WHO is VBULL ? ..... I AM VBULL -VBULL PRECISION LTD I produce a 10 shot magazine conversion based on AICS magazines(Canadian made) I have sold 43 units of my first generation conversion with NO=0 negative feed back from any of my customers

A couple of points that need to be considered when employing my conversion or Badgers conversion 1)= your stock will have to be inletted to accept the conversion ,the AICS magazine is just about double the width of an H&S magazine and then you must factor in the bottom metal. I have fitted my conversion to every model of Macmillan tactical stock produced to date and several H&S stocks as well. My conversion is NOT A DROP IN installation neither is a Badger the H&S conversion is a drop in-KIND OF-(magazine is thinner) but does require fine tuning to make it work reliably
2)The past lot of AICS magazine(pre bankruptcy) varied widely in dimensionality due in most part to being made in different lots/batches as well as being finished in different coatings and as such latching issues were encountered and as a result I produced two sets of latches to address this problem and all my customers were supplied with both latches so they could tune the conversion to there particular magazines
3) As I mentioned earlier the AICS conversion need to be fitted TO EVERY INDIVIDUAL STOCK -READ= CUSTOM INSTALATION . the proper inletting of the stock is CRUCIAL to the VBULL or the BADGER conversion in fact to get the best performance out of a H&S conversion it to should be inletted ( really just adjusted for depth) (H&S Magazines cost more money then AICS Magazines and need to be imported - AICS magazines are NOW readilly availabel in Canada and are built verry well ).
4) I have redesigned my mag conversion to over come the "dimensionality " variations of the AICS magazines and have completely overcome this problem in fact I can be so bold as to make the comment that my new "MK1 MOD2" version "FEEDS" better then other systems BECAUSE...... of the particular latch system I have employed pictures of my new system will be posted sometime this weekend as soon as I can take the pics and have some one post them for me (SKULLBOY...PLEASE....PLEASE..)
My new system will be available in both Steel as well as Aluminium pricing on new unit will be determined very soon as I am waiting on final pricing on magazines. My conversion units will be supplied with = BOTTOM METAL X1
2X10 shot MAGAZINES, PILLARS(PROPPER LENGHTH FOR REMINGTON) X2 ACTION SCREWS(HEX) X2. ...New Conversions will be availabel in Remington short action, long action and magnum action as well as various other actions

Hi Ed,

Thanks for jumping into this thread and for clearing up some of the misconceptions I've heard about your conversion. I've always tried to support Canadian companies where possible. Your product definitely deserves further investigation. What do you hope to be retailing the conversions for (ballpark figure?) with or without installation? :)

Good to hear the long action kit is in the works. I believe that you will do quite well as there seems to be no competition in this area. I know I will be sending you a rifle or two once you get things finalized. Will the long action also have a lock out for the mag as well? Will you be using Accuracy International mags for the long action kit?

mag conversion

HELLO RUNT. the new design does not have a lock out but does have a safety shield protecting the mag catch from accidental manipulation. as for use of AI long action mags = YES SIR - ALTHOUGH I am still kicking around the idea of making my own mags that way I am not vendor dependent, I have got a few ideas but let me tell you home engineering is @$%$#^&^%$ expensive as for pricing of my conversions the price for my units will be $ 495.00 (CANADIAN) INSTALLATION= $ 80.00
+ TAX (DEALER CONSIDERATION AVAILABLE ) now when you consider Badgers product you get the the
Bottom metal x1+ magazine x1+ pillars and screws for $360.00 (US DOLLARS)+ X 20% EXCHANGE= $ 432.00 (CAD) + taxes +shipping+ import paperwork +INSTALATTION+ time= . my conversion comes with the Bottom metal x1, 2x (two) magazines(10=(short action only) or 5 your choice-mix&match ) pillars,+ action screws. Pics will be available soon - my website is being updated this week

Regards & Thanks

Thanks for the reply Ed! Time to start saving again! I'll be in touch once I'm ready concerning the conversion and installation. Support our Canadian dealers/suppliers guys!

Here are pics of the second generation V-Bull Precision AI Mag conversion:

I had a hands on look at this new conversion today.

It is well made and the mag inserts and removes very smoothly. There was no drag at all when feeding dummy rounds from the mag.The trigger guard is large enough for a gloved finger.

I was told the Conversion kit will come with 2 mags, and that a long action version is being made at this very moment.

SKBY.

Ed,

I noticed that you changed the mag release from your original design and went with an AR-15 style release from the pics Skullboy has posted. Any particular reason why? To be honest, I think your original design was a little more "elegant". Just wondering. Thnx.

Aics Magazine Conversion

Hello X- man

The reason I changed the latch arrangement was due to the wide variation in dimensionality in AICS magazine ,Now that being said AICS magazines are excellent magazines however magazines from different lots of manufacturer as well as different finishes add to a wide variation in overall dimensions resulting in having to build the mag well over size to accommodate the BIG magazines this then makes the THIN magazine rattle and Skipp buy the latch if pulled on hard I solved that problem buy providing two different latches with my first conversion . I also didn't like the fact that the magazine could move up and down in the mag well and a seizing problem could occur if the the rifle was rested on or if held buy the magazine as a rnd was being striped- the magazine could push up on the bolt slowing or even stopping its travel ." A problem inherent to Badger and H&S as well"
The new latch system totally eliminates any up/down motion and allows for a consistent latch pressure with no concern regarding magazine dimension variation and with a lot more engagement into the magazine precluding any worries in regards to a magazine falling or being pulled out . The timing of the magazine is more precise , consistent and repeatable and due to a interior angle the rnd just barely touches the top of the feed ramp and is centered in the mouth of the chamber result= "STRIPPING" a rnd is very smooth with little effort required , also the bullet does not get slammed against the feed ramp possibly changing 'BULLET RUNOUT " or forcing a rnd deeper into the case .I was asked buy some law enforcement & conservation officers to increase the size of the mag well to more easily accommodate a" ROLLING"- front to back movement while inserting magazine into the mag well a much faster and more intuitive feel to the process my previous design required a " straight up " insertion which necessitated a precise alignment to insert the magazine into the mag well , also several law enforcement & conservation officers asked for a bigger trigger guard to accommodate a gloved finger thus the wider deeper trigger guard

As far as my previous design being more "ELEGANT " I would say my previous design looked more "TRADITIONAL " and some will prefer one design over an other this is all good I have no intention of discontinuing my previous design I am just offering a choice. I must also say that my new design allows me to install my conversion into a wider variety of actions then my previous design in fact next week I will have not only a long action Remington ready but a "SAVAGE" version as well
