Badger Ordnance Op Rod Spring Guides?

I was browsing through the Brownells site, and noticed that they have a nice selection of op rod spring guides. They have Rooster33, Sadlak and Badger Ordnance. Now I know that the only advantage top stainless is less maintenance. The real reason that I never ordered the Rooster33 or the Marstar spring guides are because they aren't heat treated and thus are more likely to bend. The Sadlack has 4 flats milled to reduce drag but the Badger has 4 flutes to do the same. The Sadlak is vaccum treated but I'm not sure if the Badger got the same.
I have not clue which one to get but I'm leaning toward the Badger.

Heat treat is to improve hardness and add wear resistance. The standard M305 op rod spring guide is stamped metal. Any of those after market rods will do the trick, it isn't like they take a huge load.
 
If you're running a stock barrel, and surplus ammo, you won't notice two ####s of difference between a heat treated one and a non heat treated one. ANY of them are far better than stock, and will work pretty much the same as the next.

In fact, I doubt you'd EVER be able to tell. As mentioned, there is really no need to heat treat the spring guide... just my opinion.
 
Heat treating, milled flats or flutes are really just marketing. It's all a reason to buy THEIR op-rod spring guide. So long as it's round and harder than the spring, it'll work.

If Rooster would return emails or calls he would sell me 3 of em and other stuff too.. After 4 calls and 3 emails I'm guessing he doesn't want my bizness

At least I'm not the only one "feeling" this way about R33... Although, my experience is that he answers his phone, not that 3 phone calls have done me any good... I've been waiting since the 13th of JUNE for my 2 R33 scout mounts for my 2 m14 rifles!!! It's now August 2nd!!! No-one is THAT busy...:mad: :mad: :mad:

Being away from the board for most of the last year I can't remember the actual grade of stainless that R33 uses on his guides, but I remember that the SS was top grade machine SS. Bendng is that last thing I would worry about, now getting is touch with him is another story.
Guides, gas shimming, GI or Wolfe Op-rod spring and a USGI stock will give the 4 greatest improvements to a standard Norc IMHO.
