Badger tips

Or, consider that badger holes are vital habitat for a whole bunch of critters that appreciate the opportunity to go underground and shelter in a ready made badger hole. Badgers are a vital part of the prairie ecosystem, not appreciated by many people, but they have a place. If they are actually doing damage, I have no problem with shooting them. Have done it myself. If you don't have horses that may break a leg in a hole, consider that all holes are not bad. And leave a few for posterity please.

I have found badgers to be most active evening and morning but have caught them randomly at all hours of the day. If you spot one grab a gun and watch where he goes. 9 times out of 10 he will run to his hole then whip around with his arse in the hole and slowly poke his head out to watch you and that's when you can catch a good frontal chest shot. As for trapping em the only way I have heard that's effective is to build a small chicken wire pen around a hole with either a conibear or snare setup in an opening of the pen.

That guy catching a badger bare handed, even a young one, dunno if I should be amazed at his Chutzpah, or absolutely impress by his growing as old as he has while making really stupid decisions!

Seen enough footage of Grizzly bears getting backed off by a badger, to think that the dude and his border collie, are both gonna get a heck of a surprise one day, when the 'wrong' badger shows up to his calls! LOL!

Pretty well done on his part still...
