Bag stop for MDT XRS

Getting into shooting NRL22 and wanting to add a bag stop to my rig. When I load up on my rifle I’m finding the built in barricade stop of the XRS to be coming up short and the bag ends up pushing on my 10 and 15rnd mags causing feeding issues.
Simple enough fix with a bag stop but the majority I’m seeing are Arca mount, have a Arca rail but it doesn’t go far enough back to get the bag stop where I want it. Heavily leaning towards the gray ops design but was curious if anyone knows of one that attaches to the same factory spots that hold the forend on?

Or is my only option a longer Arca rail?

Interested to see what people suggest. My XRS is on a centrefire, so it doesn't impact as much, but I have wanted to extend it without moving my balance point forward.

Is that an mlok slot on the bottom of your barricade stop/magwell? Can something go on there? Mdt and several others make mlok barricade stops. I have one of these rifles in the mail right now and a mdt barricade stop. I’ll try it out if it is indded mlok there.

keep us updated on what you figure out. I was debating if I should get an mlok arca adapter like yours or buy the xrs forend with full length arca. It might even be worthwhile to bubba an adapter and cut it out to the shape of the magwell.

Good eye, I didn’t even notice that but will confirm when I get home. I had considered a barricade stop but I wanted something that could mount further back that would allow me to balance the rifle better. I do have a set of forend weights coming to help navigate that a bit more as well.

This is what I’m trying to accomplish so everyone has a better idea of what I’m talking about.

I'd use the slot thats in the stop block already there. The farmer-me would probably jsut bolt on a knob of sorts

Well I checked when I got home and the slot under the built in barricade stop is to narrow for a Mlok nut to fit through which seems like a bit of a oversight on MDT part not utilize some more mounting real estate.

I’ve reached out to MDT to see what kind of solutions they can offer and I’ll update this post once I hear back from them.

MDT got back to me and the only solution they had to offer was for me to buy the XRS enclosed forend as it has a built in Arca rail that runs all the way back to the barricade stop. Only thing is they only offer it in black and I was hoping for FDE

Does anyone know if I were to install the 10.25” mdt Arca rail in place of the 8.6” I have does it cover further back to the barricade stop or is the extra Arca rail just added towards the muzzle end?

you should be able to make it fit the way you want with not too much work
AREA419 is another rail option
Ya I was looking at their universal rail with arcalock since I’m planning on mounting the bag stop to it.

Do you have your rifle balanced properly? Some weights on the forend might help so you don’t have to muscle into it as much.
It’s currently rear heavy but figured I’d wait till it’s setup the way I want it before balancing with weights

It does balance on a bag if the barricade stop is just slightly on the bag, just a little rear heavy so I’m waiting till I have the other parts and see how much if any balancing it needs

I had a friend print one on his 3D printer for my Fiieldstock for a Tikka T1X. Yours appears to be for a 700 platform ? Simple matter to print up an extension for the existing ( too short ) one. Glue and screw it in place. My friend had to to find a "print" on line but said there were plenty available.

Let me know what you figure out. I’m just messing with mine and I think I might look for an area 419 weighted arca. I’m not a fan of the 419 serrated arca, but it might be the best option and just leave it long and not screwed down towards the magwell. I added the one set of weights the xrs supports on my forend and it’s not enough to balance. This xrs chassis isn’t looking so appealing now that I have to spend a pile more cash on making it the way I want it.

Mdt endlosed forend with arca- $214.99
1 pound xrs forend weight- $119.99
Heavier/longer barrel?
Area 419 weighted arca- $320

If I was buying a chassis I think I would’ve spent the extra bit of cash and bought an acc gen2. After a few accessories for the xrs I’ll be pretty close to the same price anyways.

Mine is the CZ457 MDT XRS and came with the chassis, was the best option for what I was looking for. The extras needed like a rail system and weights is just kind of part of the chassis setup, I’ve never had a chassis be exactly what I wanted straight out of the box and all needed stuff added. There’s definitely cheaper options to weight and balance than Area 419, that’s about the most expensive way to go about it.

I was actually playing around with this yesterday and think it should be perfectly fine.

The 8.6” rail is still to short for what I want and I don’t think the MDT 10.25” Arca is going to cut it either, but before I keep throwing money at the problem I’m going to wait for my gray ops bag stop to show up so I can see what I’m working with.

Will continue to update this thread as I figure out what works but I’m pretty sure a 12” Arca is the answers I’m looking for. The bottom of the XRS forend is 12” so the MDT 10.25” will come up short.

Although not weighted, you could buy a basic 12” arca rail off Amazon for $30. I put one of those on my At One CZ457.

Brass bar stock from a local metal supplier like 3/4” X 1” x 6” for each side, will be cheaper than MDT weights.

Even a slab of brass between the arca and the stock can help, and be a ton cheaper than $320. Not as elegant looking, but it’ll work. I almost did that on my At One, but moved to a chassis. If I did it though, I’d cut out a chunk of brass near the barricade stop so I wasn’t adding weight there.

I really don’t want any weight added to the magwell side of 4” in front of the barricade stop.

If you’re familiar with the internal 5-piece chassis weights on a full ACC, or the 4-piece on the ACC gen 2, I only use 4 or 3 pieces respectfully. The weight right in front of the magwell is pointless to me, and messes with the balance I want.
