Had one in 762x39, tight, decent finish, terrible trigger but no worse then a handi rifle.
Should have had it rechambered to
303 British
The Russians missed the mark after chambering in 762x339 and 762x54 they should have also chambered it in 303 British
Imagine a modern single shot in
303 British retailing at $199.00
350 bucks +\- 50
Good advertising if I had the cash I would pm about it
You do what you want with your money but IMO 700 bucks is nuts for a baikal single shot. The definition of a utilitarian gun. I expect to see them on the ee for this now lol
You could have a Henry for that price and it is 10x the gun.
500 dollar handi rifles is a bit excessive too; even for “ rare” ones
I bought the 7.62 x 54 from Epps many years ago, new, for about 250 i think. It was a beast, the open sites sucked, difficult to get the proper mount for a scope, trigger that a female russian shotputter could barely pull. So then I bought one in .223, lol. It was nicer, but still had similar issues.
Couple of years ago I got the henry SS in .308. It's heads and shoulders above the Baikal, might not survive a nuclear blast like the Russian, but a lot nicer to shoot, and the open sites are quite good.
I'm going to guess that one might know they shot something after the recoil subsides.
Kinda like recoil, to a point.
Got an old Savage SS in 30-30 that is surprisingly lively.
7.62 x 54R would be brisk
Does anyone know what the selling price was when they were available new?
