Baikal IZH single shot rifles?

2 years later ! Practical application ? Take it apart and stuff it in your back pack when you go camping, fishing, etc ...

Have one synthetic stock in 308. Had brl cut down to 19” and sights added to front again. Nice compact takedown to put in a pack heading to the outdoors. Have 4x scope with quick release rings( warne I believe) on so scope comes off also if want too. Trigger is a lot stiff so will have to do some work on in the winter

Had one in 762x39, tight, decent finish, terrible trigger but no worse then a handi rifle.
Should have had it rechambered to
303 British
The Russians missed the mark after chambering in 762x339 and 762x54 they should have also chambered it in 303 British

Imagine a modern single shot in
303 British retailing at $199.00

I'd bet the 7.62X54r or X39 would outsell the 303 in todays market. Still nots of surplus to be had in the Russian Cals and no shortage of sportized Enfields if you like 303.

There was a beauty for sale for months on EE, by a very reputable seller. Chambered in x39. Trigger work is neither expensive nor complicated. Somebody got lucky with that one. They are built like tanks and nicer than any Handi rifle.

350 bucks +\- 50

Good advertising if I had the cash I would pm about it

Haha no that wasn’t it. I just bought one at auction and figured I way overpaid but was curious. I knew I was overpaying but did so gladly since I have a stockpile of ammo and nothing to shoot it out of since I sold my svt 40s and I don’t like mosins.

I had a wtb ad for one of those up for a long time with no result. Might be harder to find than other calibers? Wish I got one when epps had them for ~250 bucks

I had a hunch it wouldn’t be common. I paid 700 for the sole reason that I’ve had a few spam cans of ammo kicking around for 10 years. I don’t like selling ammo, especially if it’s sealed in tin. So I overpaid but will prob never buy more ammo...
At the same sail I got a old Mossberg 810 rifle in 30-06 for a song... then immediately spend 1200 on bulk ammo.
So this is how I justify the price. I have another hunch that I could get my money back out of it if I wanted to...

I'm going to guess that one might know they shot something after the recoil subsides.
Kinda like recoil, to a point.
Got an old Savage SS in 30-30 that is surprisingly lively.
7.62 x 54R would be brisk

I bought the 7.62 x 54 from Epps many years ago, new, for about 250 i think. It was a beast, the open sites sucked, difficult to get the proper mount for a scope, trigger that a female russian shotputter could barely pull. So then I bought one in .223, lol. It was nicer, but still had similar issues.

Couple of years ago I got the henry SS in .308. It's heads and shoulders above the Baikal, might not survive a nuclear blast like the Russian, but a lot nicer to shoot, and the open sites are quite good.

You do what you want with your money but IMO 700 bucks is nuts for a baikal single shot. The definition of a utilitarian gun. I expect to see them on the ee for this now lol

You could have a Henry for that price and it is 10x the gun.

500 dollar handi rifles is a bit excessive too; even for “ rare” ones

I had one of these back in the day, bought used at Epps. Reliable, reasonably accurate, shouldered comfortably, okay sights. Never really liked the weird operating lever/catch, and the trigger was beyond horrible. Scoped it with an air rifle one piece mount which worked quite well on it.

Bought it for around $200 IIRC, sold it for similar. Frankly, I wouldn't buy another one at any price, and I am a fan of single shots; I have seen some on the EE for prices that made me laugh out loud.

Just another inexpensive decent rifle that people seem to think are now worth big bucks.

At least the guy before me must have tuned the trigger. It’s smooth with a little bit of creep. I had to bid that to win the gun so somebody else thought it was worth 650... I am a little nuts though

Got a Cousin in Nevada. I mentioned AK47's....his reply "F*cking Farm Equipment"
Perhaps this ought to apply for most USSR and FSU equipment.
Yeah, I remember my moniker LoL

I had a Baikal in 7.62x39 and a Savage 219 in 30/30 . I kept the savage , and you're right , they are a bit snappy . It's far more accurate than it should be though , one I won't part with . I liked the idea of the Baikal more than I liked the rifle . I should have kept it and put some work into it in retrospect , oh well . The Henry looks interesting , one in 44 RM would be very handy .

i had 3 of them and as of today i have none left ...i sold each for what i paid around 350 to 400 and they not attract me anymore but they can be a great tool for the ones willing to use a single shot.

they re robust, great shooters but they did not in the right caliber for me: a 7x65r or 9.3x74r. i had them in 308, 7.62x54r and 30-06.
