Yes, it is relatively new.

Let your friend make sure he is getting plugs from Baikalcanada with the next shipment.

No big deal, it's just a black plastic piece.

Thanks Tozman,

Now I know what to check for in the mag tube or ask from the dealer.

Thanks Tozman. Good to know.

When buying an MP-153 you must ask the gunshop to have it plugged.

Fact is that Baikal Canada is supplying them with original "made in Russia" plastic plugs designed for the MP-153. Mine came like that. The plugs are coming separate from the box. I guess the gunshops are using them to plug other guns...

In case the original plug is "gone missing", a reputable gunshop should be more than happy to supply you with at least a dowel. Or otherwise you can make one yourselves as per bill c68's instructions.

No, the serial number appears only on the receiver.

I picked up a synthetic baikal the other day, but I cannot get it to shoot 2-3/4'' trap loads, everything else works fine, but took a bit to break in to work reliably with 2-3/4'' game loads. So far I have shot about 20 3'', 75-100 heavy 2-3/4'' and have hand pumped about 75-100 light loads through, anyone have any tricks to make it work reliably?

It seems to come very close to cycling, with light loads they usually rechamber the spent shell, and sometimes the shells will eject and not chamber a new round, or it will just stovepipe.

Clean and lubricate your gun. Adjust the gas valve setting to " LIGHT LOADS" and try again.

Don't forget to go back to the factory setting when you want to use field loads once again :)

Sorry I forgot to mention, I have cleaned and lubed it probably 3 times, as well as adjusted the gas cylinder. Would anyone be so kind as to post a pic of the factory setting mark on their baikal, mine seems to be set fairly close to the lighter side already. Also adjusting the gas cylinder doesn't seem to make a difference. Thanks

Sounds like your gun is not completely broken in yet.

Shoot another box or so of 3" magnums and Heavy 2 3/4" loads. Then try the light loads again.

Some guns shoot the light loads right out of the box. Others take more than 100 rounds.

All the best.

I fired another box of 3'' shells and a box of 2-3/4'' pheasant loads, after, it cycled light target loads reliably. I think if you plan to use target loads with this gun, it might be best to wait till hunting season so you can break it in with heavy loads, for me I had to spend probably close to $60 extra on ammo just so I could use it for some clays next week. Now to see if it will work good after a cleaning...

Also does anyone know of a place to get extra barrels, say shorter ones if possible, as well as mag extensions?

Excellent suggestions. Glad to hear that your gun is finally broken in.

Extra barrels are not available as we speak... sorry, I meant "write" :D
There are 3 different capacity mag extensions made by Baikal for the MP-153. Unfortunately Baikalcanada is not importing them :(

I could use it for some clays next week.
Enjoy:)
