Baikal MP-153 users:
What choke are you using? I just patterned mine today (season opens tomorrow) and I was getting a very loose pattern, I tried Tungsten matrix #3 and steel #4, #1.
I tried IC, Mod and Full and even with full choke at 20 yards there was alot of holes in the pattern.

I have spoken to a few MP-153 users, one insists on using an Xtra full choke and the other says 60% of his pattern shoots low.

I might just try the extra full.

Remember that lead and steel pattern differently. Tungsten-Matrix will be similar to lead.

The chokes that come with the MP-153 are steel chokes.

The Full choke should pattern like a Full choke when using steel shot.

When using Lead or Tungsten-Matrix, it will pattern more like a Modified or Improved-Cylinder.

Your X-full steel rated choke will pattern like a Modified or Improved-modified when using lead or Tungsten-Matrix.

Me and my hunting friend use F-choke with our MP-153s. We use 3' Tungsten-Matrix #5 for ducks and #3 for geese. We also use 3' steel #BB and 3.5' steel BBB as well. The following pics are from one of our hunts this season. the results will speak for themselves.

Here is one form today...

Baikal MP-153 (24" bbl), Full choke, 1 3/8 oz of #5 TM,
Baikal 20 Gauge O/U, F/Mod 1 1/8 oz of #5 TM
and (not pictured, holding camera) Rem 870 with steel #2 and #4

I think I will be going with an Extra Full choke, thanks for clearing that up with Steel chokes. I often wondered if the choke was full for lead and safe for steel or was full for steel.

Tman... your receiver on your Synthetic looks a bit rough...surprised they let it out of the factory.... like your sig line, words to live by!

It is not rough at all in reality. Somehow it is the photo that is deceptive.

Here is another photo (from another angle) just for comparison:
