So after my buddy loaned me his Mp-153 for a few days of ducks, I decided to pick one up today. I wanted a cheap utility shotgun that I could run steel through, generally not worry about it and that is what I got. It is the black synthetic 3.5" chamber and 29.5" barrel version and picked it up in High River at Fly's Etc for $499 on sale. What a great little store that is, jam packed with stuff, great service with a smile. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area and it doesn't hurt to put some money back into a town that is still recovering from the flooding in June.

Does anyone know what aftermarket recoil pad, Limbsaver or Pachmayer, will replace the factory pad? Or do I need a grind to fit? I'm of the habit of replacing all my factory recoil pads with aftermarket versions as it helps me with my somewhat bum shoulder (old rotator cuff injury). I've been trying to search for which one fits but no luck. My buddy bought his off someone that had already installed his Limbsaver pad. Any other modifications you guys have made? Any other suggestions are more than welcome as this is the first shotgun for me.

READ the manual, FOLLOW the break in procedure! USE 100 mag rounds for the break in, don't cheap out... And then clean it well before trying lighter rounds.

I have a 24 inch barreled synthetic stocked MP153, love it! Use it as my main waterfowl gun. I run Xpert Steel @1550fps & it runs & runs!

Cheers

Thanks Looky, not sure when I'm going to be able to get out for feathers but I'm taking it out on Thursday to start the break in.

One correction: I said it was a 29.5" barrel as I was going out of the manufactures book that lists it as 750mm but in reality it is a 28" barrel.

I painted my black stock and fore arm OD green Krylon. The factory pad is very good, no replacement is required. Mine is the 24" barrelled version and recoil is very mild. Mine shoots anything I put in it. Great guns and they are a bargain.

Only thing is wait until you need parts.A one year wait from Russia and Baikal Canada doesn't carry parts for it.Nor does Numrich gun parts as it was sold under the Rem handle briefly.

There was a member on this site that a while back that said he had parts for Baikal. Don't know if he is still around. BUT these guns are very durable and should not have a need for any parts for a long time. The 1 year thing is common. Try to deal with Browning Canada on a warranty issue.....

Did you know when shooting clay in the gravel pit, you can ghost load the Mp-15? Ghost loading is adding a 4th shotshell so you get 2 in the mag, 1 in the chamber and 1 under the carrier. You can see it on Youtube.
