I was surfing the Baikal website recently and spotted this thing, looks damn cool and it's available in 3 different rimfire chamberings;

Would anyone happen to know if there are any of these in canada at the moment? If not, I'll most likely be ordering a couple Baikal single-shots from GMK or Epps within the next week and I plan on asking about these as well.
 
A while back I asked the same question but still not sure that it will for export or not. Everything on this little gun looks cool except the screws but I don't mind that.

I agree, the screw holes do detract from the ###y lines of the rifle :rolleyes: According to the website, the stock pieces are made from "glass-fiber reinforced high strength plastic", which is probably glass-filled nylon/zytel, just like an ATI stock. It's pretty tough ####, very stiff and durable, so I don't think there'll be much squeaking going on.

In any case, I don't care what you guys say, I'm gonna try and order one in .22WMR and see what the price is. I'll post the results when I get more info :D
 
I wouldn't mind trying one of those, it looks very neat and friendly .....
may be put an orange tip on it ....
 
update; I talked to Jerry, the gunsmith at GMK Armory. I was trying to get my hands on a couple of those Baikal break-action single shots, but they're sold out :( In any case, I mentioned the MP-161K to him, and he checked out the Baikal website while I was on the phone with him, just to have a look. He didn't know if they were available for import yet, but he did say they've had bad luck with the entire line of Baikal rimfires, especially the bolt actions. To make a long story boring, he didn't know if he could import them or not, so I'll ask him again at the end of November when I phone back for those single shot rifles :D

Good point. I checked the Baikal website and they only list 1 rimfire, the MP-161K. I wonder what he could have been talking about? He was complaining about the fact that the empties were ejected straight up and constantly dinged off the scope, frequently bouncing back down into the action and jamming it up. Maybe he thought I meant Norinco? I dunno :confused:
