I got this Baikal IZ-58 in a trade last week and since Ive never owned a Baikal or been to impressed with them before,Im surprised at just what a nice little shotgun this is. 26" barrels, two triggers, fixed chokes,imp/mod I think, and about 6 pounds. I need a butt pad to make it fit me cause its about inch to short. Sure is a pretty little thing, for a Baikal.

Nice find. The older ones are far better quality than the brand new ones. Value is about $500-600 if it's in great condition

I recently sold a 20 gauge version with choke tubes for $450. Not sure that I would go as high as $500, but that ones does look better finished than my gun. It was actually a decent shotgun, unfortunately it did not fit me at all.

I shot a round of sporting clays with it and really liked it so Ill probably keep it for awhile. I need to get a pad to extend the length of the stock though cause its to short for me.

Sure is a pretty little thing, for a Baikal.

I get tired of hearing "oh it's good, for a Baikal". Baikals are excellent firearms. I have 3 and I love them all. Granted the newer shipments aren't as refined as an italian costing 4x the price, but perhaps I put too much emphasis on function instead of some perceived aesthetics.

For the $350-400 you'll get for it, I'd just keep it and shoot it.

Wondering if you had an opportunity to weigh the shotgun? The IJ58MA is around 7lbs (and built on a 12 frame). The chokes will more likely be tight and tighter. 2 3/4 or 3in chambers?

Safehunter,Im not knocking them in the least, better value to money ratio then most.

Ahsan,I don't have a scale,but Id say around 6 pounds and I think just 2 3/4" chambers.

I currently own a 20ga IJ-58MA - weighs 7lbs and built on a 12 frame. It is chambered for 3in cartridge and choked XF/F. I had picked that up from EE because of the config inorder to use exclusively for Turkey. With Kent Turkey shells, both tubes throw very nice patterns at 35 yards.

Sold a nice 28ga IZH43-E1C some months ago. That was built on a 20 frame but weighed 7lbs.

Haven't come across any Baikal so far that isn't "overweight." :) I have a few other shotguns but still like Baikals. I would, however, like to get my hands on a proper 20ga specimen as mentioned in the following link .....

I once had an IJ58 in 12 gauge 2 3/4 chambers. As many were made from the factory, chokes appeared to be tight and tighter as someone else said here! lol
Was much younger and very fit back then and the extra weight of this particular shotgun did not faze me very much.

One could pull off amazing long shots on running jackrabbits with medium size buckshot. Unfortunately I was somehow convinced to loan to someone who promptly broke the butt stock into three pieces when he slipped and discovered the only rock in about 1/4 mile of open prairie.

ick....

I have this shotgun in 12ga.

Chokes are very tight and makes this shotgun shoot very accuratly.

As far as weight, I don't mind it nor find it heavier at all

Good shotgun

I have their SxS with the single trigger, with barrel selector and 28" barrels w/ screw in chokes. Awesome shotgun. I use it for small game during deer season. One slug in the left and shot in the right. If I see a deer in the day (rare as hell) He gets the left, if it's a little grouse or something else yummy its the right.

Love my ij58. I have well over 40000 rounds thru mine. The for end is starting to loosen when the action is closed. The latch metal is wearing. Still one of my favorite sxs guns. I'd like another and one in 20 ga
