What have folks found are balanced compensator/brakes and flash hiders? I want something that helps manage vertical lift while not creating a fireball. Bonus points if it doesn't make fellow shooters beside me deaf while I shoot.

Am I chasing the unicorn? lol, certainly feels like it. I've got a few YHM's which claim to do both relatively well, but I have not noticed much of a difference compared to the standard A2. I also have an PWS FSC556 which tames the vertical life but at the expense of a brighter flash and the hate of those around me. Just looking for something better balanced.

ETA: This is going on a 11.5" barrel so the FSC556 is a little less desirable but would normally be a good option.

After some thought, I'd rather have friends.. so I'll skip putting a brake on the 11.5" :) But the PWS556 will go back on the 16". Thanks!

What about a linear comp? Get a heavy sucker luke the Hera one...that 2ill help keep the muzzle down. Way better than the pws style i had before on my 10.5.

People will cringe but the the A2 Flash hider is pretty effective at a reducing muzzle flash and it does mitigate some muzzle rise. That being said, your body mechanics and learning techniques for hold, can be a great starting point for mitigating muzzle climb. If you are looking to spend $$$ though, Griffin Armament M4SD II Flashcomp, Battlecomp, and Im sure there are others will help tame muzzle rise and also reduce flash to a degree.
