Looking to build a precision/long range deer hunting rifle with the Manners PRS1 stock. I want a 22-24’’ barrel and i am trying to choose between Med Palma and Benchmark M24 (.800’’ muzzle diameter instead of .900). I believe the m24 will be .5 lbs heavier. I prefer a balanced 15 lbs rifle to a rear heavy 14lbs rifle.

Those who run similar setup with the PRS1 what barrel length and contour do you run. If it is well balanced of course, center point right in front of mag well.

Thanks

G

Not sure about the weight distribution of a PRS1, but in my McMillan A5, a 24" Hawk Hills Marksman contour, which is in between a medium and a heavy palma, is just slightly too light to balance in front of the mag well. I have to run it with my Atlas out front to settle.
In my other identical rifles with MTU barrels, they balance easier.

I want 22-24’’ barrel i went with the Benchmark M24, might look a lil weird i cant wait to see what it look i coudnt find any picture online.

Thanks for the feedbacks

Manners PRS-1
26’’ M24 profile (0.925’’ at muzzle)
Balances perfectly at the front of barricade stop

We could say perfect balance point is give or take 1'' in front of recoil lug

VERY NICE rig!!! thanks for the feedback. That balance point 1’ ‘ in front of the lug is that with the bipod on? If yes i believe 24’’ will work for me but 22 will be rear heavy.

Yes balance point is as pictured with bipod.
Even when swapping my bipod to my atlas, balance point change is not noticeable.

I also have a PRS-1 on a rimfire, with a 4-14 NF SHV scope.
Even with a fat 20'' barrel and no brake, it really is butt heavy and ackward to shoot off a tripod when the ballhead isn't fully tight.
I wish I could of went 24'' on that rimfire just for balance...
