BAD BULLETS ....scrub again ..acetone...air blast ..heat ..cast bad bullets...spray with starting fluid ....bad bullets.....took to sink and scrubbed ..hot water rinsed x 3...strong deturgent soap..back t o shop...pre heat...and cast...GOOD BULLETS...i have new respect for ballistal and what it can do just not on my bullet moulds going back to my BRP storage oil......just putting it out .....don

I use WD-40 on all my molds and store them in a small ziplock bag inside the original box. I clean them with Prestone starting fluid before casting again. No problems .

I use engine oil and store in the original plastic box and my molds are in mint condition all the time. cleaning the oil off is easy

I really need to fire up the pot and get to casting soon, I was spraying something on my moulds but it was for casting to help bullets release? Silicon spray maybe?
I just give mine a shot of wd-40 and throw them in the mould drawer when I am done.

I just leave the last bullet(s) in the mould and call it good. So far so good.

Interesting. In my mind, if there ever is a chance of humidity getting in between the lead and the steel then you have “water between dissimilar metals” - which is a basic battery. And that means corrosion. But I can’t argue with “so far so good”.

I just coat with any oil and rinse it off with brake cleaner when it’s time to cast.

2 stroke pre-mix oil to cover all surfaces after casting & allow to come back to ambient temp.

next session, preheat mold halves to 100degF & wipe cavities out w/ Q tip & any other excess off block faces w/ paper shop towel.

works for sprue plate lube...also.

From NS and there I'm sure, like everything else they would rust like crazy. Here in Alberta I have not seen an need. Same ad Dogleg, just leave one in the mold.

Lucas premium gun oil is just Lucas synthetic Snowmobile 2 stroke oil. Lucas regular gun oil is their regular synthetic 2 stroke engine oil. Both are great on moulds for spruce plate, alignment pins and h.p. Pins lube. They both work great for lead removal from hot or cold moulds. If the mould is cold the oil needs a few minutes to work. Combined with a shaped chopstick, clogged vent lines are easily cleaned.
