I may end up being lucky enough to bid on an allegedly "excellent" condition LongBranch in 7.62mm, with functioning magazine, and PH5C sight.

Is anyone able to ball park value on such a beast - Yes, I realize that condition is all, but are we talking $500, $1000, $1500, $2000?

Cheers,

Neal

Neal, without seeing it and assuming VG+ condition, Matching with correct DCRA numbers etc, I'd say either side of $800. If you find it excellent+ and just gotta have it, then $1,000+, but you'd have to want to keep it awhile.
Here's a small pic of my 1945 LB/MP/DCRA. I wouldnt part with it for anything.

Well, it's good to see that my mental estimate wasn't too far out of whack; in fact I had over-estimated the current retail market value, so we'll see where that leads....

Geoff: We'll have to "do" lunch one of these years - I have old friends who have recently relocated to Victoria, so will probably be there several times a year now. How did you end up disposing of the franken-EAL?

$600 - $700 is the going value. No sights or 7.62 magazine

What it is supposed to be/have: excellent condition, Parker Hales sights, 7.62 mag.

Okay - so the deciding factor being is it a DCRA or not? That will affect the value by about ~$200+.

Non-DCRA, $600 with the givens. Matching DCRA with the givens then yes $800+.

A real DCRA will have this stamped at the end of the barrel:

And more importantly, this symbol with matching conversion serial numbers stamped on the receiver, barrel & bolt:

Last fall I bought a 1945 Long Branch DCRA 7.62 conversion with PH5C sight, no magazine, in excellent condition for $350, but that was an exceptionally low price. Added one of the L42 style mags ($120) and a proper 7.62 extractor ($25), so that makes $495 "invested". I'm pretty sure I could get $750 for it if I ever decide to sell it.
