I've looked at several ballistic apps for the iphone, all of which seem fairly similar (Isniper, etc). Is there one particular app that anyone can recommend as better than the others, particularly for long-range shooting with a 300 Win mag?

i have used Isnipe to get my 300 Win Mag out to 1900 yards. It is great to say the least.

I also use Isnipe. Works well. Used it with my 308 in both factory and hand loads out to 500yrds.

I'd pay for it again. I use to compare factory load velocities as well. The database on it is pretty awesome.

Strelok has worked extremely well for me also. And its free to boot.

Thanks! It's my son who's looking for the app, so I'll pass Strelok on to him as well. He's doing very well with his Xbolt 300 Winmag and Nightforce scope.
I understand that you're not entirely unfamiliar with long range shooting. :D

Not entirely no. ;) Strelok has been very accurate for me out to 850m. I haven't had a chance to go farther yet for testing but I'm sure it will be bang on. It's great because you can plug in not only the bullet but the bc, velocity and even reticle and it will give you the dope but also the holdovers for the type of reticle you are using. Pretty cool app for sure.

Great info, thanks! I'll pass it on to my son. He seems to have a good grasp on the voodoo of long range shooting, so Strelok will be of great benefit. I, otoh, prefer shooting at targets that are in the same time zone. :D
