Ballistol on a Henry Golden...

Hey All,

Just picked up a Henry rifle with a brass receiver and was wondering if Ballistol was ok to use on it. I use it on pretty much everything I own, but it dissolves brass and lead as per the can.... But would it tarnish the receiver or anything else on my new baby.... Too pretty a rifle to chance it maybe some olè wd40 is the way to go...

I heard Ballistol is not really recommended for plated metal. Think it has a problem with nickel as well. Not entirely sure, but it would likely be better to use a different cleaner.

The big boys are brass receivers... the rimfires are "brasslite," which is a plating over zamac alloy... if I were you I would use good, old fashioned Rem Oil.
