Banning the Red Ryder BB gun

I remember when younger, I tried to shoot a squirrel with a Red Ryder. It flinched, shook it off, and went on its merry way.

When I was a kid growing up in Edmonton, most of my friends had a Red Ryder.

Sheesh...

Then again, government is looking at airsoft, so no logic on this one.

From the same political stripe that is banning Dr. Seuss, because of possibly "offending" Asians...

Well, I am Asian last I checked and I still have the entire Dr. Seuss collection that I had as a kid...

And I have air rifles...

And I have black guns...

Better batten down the hatches. The woke police are gonna break down my door soon and confiscate my Dr. Seuss contraband...

you haven't been watching enough news.... the police are coming for you because you're Asian! they will just use your contraband Dr. Seuss to assassinate your character.

you should be living in fear as a visible minority!

at least.... well... thats what they are telling you every day on the 6'o'clock news

I laughed so hard at this, coffee got on the keyboard....from my nose...

If it's any consolation, my parents immigrated to Canada from Hong Kong in 1977. They have voted Liberal all their lives....until Justin Trudeau was first running - at that point they switched their allegiance to the Conservatives (to my delight). They are almost 80. While my Dad probably will not be applying to get his PAL anytime soon, he is now an advocate of responsible gun ownership and rails against the Liberals to anyone who will listen.

When i was 8 my brother and I received pellet rifles and pistols (peacemaker copy) for Christmas. We shot at everything with these guns, even at each other on horseback. The rule was when you got shot you had to fall off your horse. Glad i had the shorter horse lol. We wore our winter parkas in the summer for protection, we weren’t crazy lol.
Jump ahead 45 years and my first grandkid came along, cdn tire had a sale on red rider bbguns, i bought 6. Still have 3 in original box untouched waiting for more gks. The 3that have them love them and though they are transitioning to 22 and larger firepower still love this rifle. Btw one of the cheapest and best air rifles out there imho.

I've been wanting to buy one of these for a while now and missed out on the sale for the 2-gun deal at Bass Pro.
I rarely go to Vaughn mills but did so yesterday out of boredom and while walking thru the aisles in Bass Pro something caught my eye! Amazing how packaging can do that.
Before I knew it I was at the register paying for an Adult sized Red Ryder. I was kinda nervous thinking I may be purchasing a banned item with a high capacity 650 round mag but I felt a little rebellious that day.....

Forgot to mention that the adult version has a thicker stock and is 2"longer. It also has a steel lever arm vs the standard polymer.

A couple of years ago my wife went into Cabelas and bought a Red Ryder anniversary package they had on. The gun clerk asked her "how old is the little fella?". My wife said 62!

Too funny!
Well I'm 61 and I had an ear to ear grin when I went up to the register and handed over my CC. By the way I was grinning I think the Cashier knew it was for me and just winked and smiled.
I felt like a kid again on x-mas day and couldn't wait to get home to plink with it. My wife just rolled her eyes :).......

Cabela's has the Heritage Kit on sale! Reg $149.99 to $89.99
I could not resist the sale and bought one (I'm a weak person):)
The youth model I received has the "gold" barrel band vs black shown on the internet pic below.

For sh^ts and giggle today I did a little target practice with my sons red rider. Brings back great childhood memories.

Now I am in the mood to watch a Christmas story.

Wish I had my Daisey

1940 single shot BB gun that would also take lead BB shot, was accurate, I kept BBs in my mouth, yes, lead! an spit one down the barrel as I cocked it on my left hip.

I cleaned out my grandparents winter hen house of sparrows in the winter when despite glass, some broken and chicken wire, one shot one dead sparrow. The cats were were well fed.

Some friends same age and myself found two 4 four feet deep trenches about 40 or 50 feet apart, battled out, NO HEAD shots but anywhere below the shoulder and they stung!

I bought a Red Ryder from CTC, had the plastic lever and would not take lead BBs I had. I am left with a large container of copper plated Daisey BBs.

Another Nut, a friend, gave me an old .177 European made break action on which I have a $5 Red Dot sight, 2 levels of intensity. It's at the cottage where I have flat nosed skirted pellets. Slow to reload with one one eye though.
