Any feedback on 69 bar270 mark 2 .......good bad ? Just not ure if i should re scope and use on black tail or get somthing newer its fairley beat but fires fine........
 
Not likely a Mk ll if it's manufactured in 1969. Have someone familiar with these rifles take it apart and inspect it. They have their own problems and replacement parts are getting more difficult to locate.
Good rifles when in good shape.
 
Ok i thought mk 2 had the antalope and elk engraving on them thats wat this has ive looked on the browning id sight the serial number says 1969 belgium any info is great thanks
 
Make sure you can easily get the gas regulator off to clean the piston. These are a bugger to get off when they are seized on and someone has rounded the nut trying to remove it.
 
If the piston has not been cleaned in years, then the threaded cap (gas regulator) at the top of the gas chamber will be on tight. After you have the forend off, spary WD40 into the gas chamber through the swivel hole, and all around the gas regulator and let it sit muzzle down for about 15 minutes. If you have a vice with padded jaws, put the flats of the gas chamber in it, and this will let you use both hands without trying to hold the rifle. After the regulator is off, the piston will come out by pushing it upwards and out of the gas chamber where the regulator was. Best way to get the piston out is place a small diameter wooden dowel between the bottom of the pistion and the lug that moves back and forth on the action spring. Let the lug under pressure from the spring tap out the piston using the wooden dowel like a punch, but handle it with some care as you do it.

Give the piston a good cleaning to get all the junk off it, and scrub out the inside of the chamber, and if you have a small diameter punch you can clean the gas hole in the barrel by just pushing the punch in and out of it a few times.

Will do it hasnt been apart for years i amagine ive only fired it a few times and the guy i got it from hasnt in many years
