I have been thinking about getting a new rifle, and the BAR is an option I have been thinking about.
Does anyone know how accurate they are? Are they known for accuracy, or are they poo?

thanks.

I think the search function will give you more answers as this has been covered a handful of times.

BAR's have good reputation for accuracy and reliability.

My BAR in .338 win mag consistently shoots between 1" and 1.5" with 225gr SST's, and even better with 250gr Gamekings.

Factory specs are fairly large for the BAR. Quality ammo, reloads or factory go a long way to wringing the most out of it's potential. Consider the size of the game and the distances to be used. For large game I think it's a great gun.

We used to have a BAR in 30-06 and it was "pie plate" accurate at best when shooting 100 yards. I'm not sure how old it was or how much use it had seen on the rez where it came from.It was forever jamming and pi&&ing us off!!!! The bolts in the stock seemed to like to come loose often. We tried our best to clean and maintain it but it was always a thorn in our side. We took it to a couple different 'smiths to see if they could get it running but it never helped for long.

I have 3 other guns made by Browning and I'm very happy with them-maybe that one was just a lemon?:HR:
