Bargain of the week! Stevens 200 rifle for $232.

its the equivalent of $200 on the typically priced rifle.
would you not be upset if (for example) your local store was offering Rugers at $200 off, but only to french-canadians?

$67 off a $299 Stevens is a huge discount, thats the cheapest theyve ever been in Canada and i am sure that even many that dont really need one would snap one up for that price. id have ordered a 300 win mag in a heartbeat, and i dont even need one. then again i dont need 9/10 of the guns i own :(

You can rationalize it all you want- But it's still only $67 off an already bargain priced rifle, and not enough to break anybody's piggybank. If you can't afford a $299 Stevens- You can't afford a $232 Stevens.

what if they were offering Ruger Hawkeyes for $460, but only to walk-ins?

Well, I sure woudln't be whining on CGN about it. Or writing angry letters to the store, expressing my outrage....I'd be doing as I suggested, and dispatching a local CGN'er to buy me a couple....

Comes down to this: Do you want a good deal on a rifle, or do you want to ##### about the world being unfair?

I can so relate to this. I just emailed my favorite bar in Costa Rica and the bastards refuse to mail me an ice cold Imperial even though I offered to pay the full happy hour price of about 80 cents American. That's bull #### man I was just there last year and I'm a good customer! I think I'm going to slag them on the internet now :runaway:

its the equivalent of $200 off a more expensive rifle, so yeah it is a big deal on a rifle that was already a huge bargain at $300.
I agree. It's an outrage. It's 20 whole percent.

It's the equivalent of $20,000 off a Purdey shotgun. Imagine the gall of those English toffs, if they EVER offered a discount to whatever bum stumbled into their shop in Mayfair instead of serving everyone equally.

It's the equivalent of $6 million off the price of an F-18A Hornet just because some fighter pilot lived near the McDonnell Douglas plant.

It's the equivalent of $340 million on a Space Shuttle.

It's an outrage.

I'm with manbearpig. Each retailer should and must henceforth charge nothing but the MSRP. In fact, they should charge a small premium just to keep things honest.

Life is SO unfair to people who don't live in Winnipeg. We should all move there.

trivializing 20% off is idiotic.

please highlight where i said this in my posts.
my complaint is that a mail order company is allowing only local customers to take advantage of a sale offer.

So if Sears has a sale at the store here in Winnipeg but not on the internet or mail order ......seeing how they are a mail order company:runaway:

then you could simply call them and mention it, and get the same price. end of story.

trivializing 20% off is idiotic.

20% of $1 is 20 cents...Which is trivial.

It's just as valid a comparison as your more expensive ones....

But the bottom line is that people got thier panties in a bunch over $67 and even when offered a viable solution, chose to whine like pussies rather than do something about it.:p

The store I work in, is offering Stevens for $200, but only to select local clients

I'll make an exception and mail order one to Gatehouse, if he wants it

A very generous offer, but I'll decline. I have no need for one...

I am sure your walk in clientele will be pleased, though!:)

Not just you.

Edit: Upon second thought, I agree with Gatehouse below. :)

Paul, that second pic WAS too much. I'm putting me on my ignore list. ;)

Back to the CFC musak.

Just read this whole post and yes I'd be pissed off If I hadn't already spent my Xmas money...crap! Anyhow, this is just plain bad customer service and very shortsighted on the part of SIR management. Yes you can offer store specific deals to draw customers or match competition, but you better believe if one of your mail order customers finds out and wants the same price..you darn well better offer it to them, or you risk losing customers. I'm sure there are several customers that missed this deal that will go out of their way not to shop there now, and all over 67 bucks! Short sighted in my view. I've spent probably $100 a year with SIR for the fast five years....imagine losing a customer that spent that much for 30 years!!!! This is the thing you have to think about when in retail and the old addage is "give them the pickle" if you can, cause they'll some back for more. SIR goofed big time IMO.

$67 is going to make or break your year? You probably can't afford it at any price, then.:)
