Barnaul 3006 question

Is the steel case Barnaul 3006 ammo safe to use in bolt action 1903 Springfield's and M1917 rifles ?

Yes, perfectly fine to shoot if your gun is sound.

what about excessive ware being steel cased?

The steel jackets on the bullets will wear the bore a bit more then copper does, but would still be thousands and thousands of rounds. No damage to the chamber from steel casings....

The steel bullet jackets are also copper washed, which helps lube them a bit. It's very mild steel, much milder than barrel steel.

Here is a good read on steel vs brass/copper jackets. Keep in mind these guys were running barrels red hot and not cleaning frequently.... both those add to bore erosion.

I run Tula/MFS through my Nork M14 and haven't had any issues.
