Barnaul not firing...

Anyone having FTfs on Barnaul 7.62x51? My firing pin is striking it, maybe not hard enough. I am using the savage axis, (brand new) and will Return tothe range to eliminate the gun as the suspect.

Thoughts?

Any other sources than brownells? Their drop down menu doesn't normally have the axis as an option...

I've picked up probably 25-30 Barnaul 308 rounds at my local range as "duds". All fired first time in my Norc M305. AFAIK they are milspec primers with harder cups. I would just stick with civilian ammo in a civilian rifle if the firing pin is too weak.

Interesting. Will this harm a hunting rifle?

Ive got a box to shoot out of my Ruger M77 tang safety. Dont want to damage the spring/pin.

It has nothing to do with damaging a gun. just hard primers in milspec ammo

Are the Barnaul primers harder than the Norc stuff? I bought a box of 20rnds to try out. Guess I'll find out on Wednesday...

I had the same thing with my BLR - the primers are just too hard. I just gave both boxes to the guy next to me who was firing milsurp & they fired just fine outta that (I forget what it was...).
