Barnes 130gr TSX - 30 Cal on deer

I am looking at handloading some of these for my 308. According to Barnes loading data, its a gain of about 200fps over the 150grs, which makes it out to be 3200fps.

Has anyone used the 130grs TSXs on deer in the 30 Cal?
How was your accuracy?

I know they have a lower BC and SD than the 150s and 165s, but it sounds like it might make a interesting deer round for the 308 winchester! I would imagine being a TSX, that they would hold up well.

I have been looking for those but have yet to find them locally (everyone i ask looks at me funny ) where did you find yours or did you order them in? I figure they should be a good penetration low recoil round.
 
the new 130 gr TTSX should be an improvement to the low BC of the 130 tsx. look for it in 2008 loaded in federal ammo in 300 magnums.

3200 with a 130 out of a 308 still sounds pretty optimistic
 
In the November '07 issue of Rifle Magazine, Dave Scovill describes considerable testing of the 130-grain TTSX out of a variety of rifles in Africa, including a .300 Weatherby at nearly 3,700, a .300 Winchester 100 fps slower and a .30-06 at 3,200. The accuracy appeared to be comparable to a match bullet. This bullet dropped all the plains game in Namibia, including a record-class blue wildebeest. He noted that these bullets generally EXITED animals, notwithstanding their small size, and they simply tore up the vitals inside as they went through.

Sounds pretty impressive, if you ask me.
 
Yeah, but 3550 on a 300 wsm with the same bullet sounds high also according to the data on their site, whether you will actually see those figures is unknown until you reload. Check out their site under technical under load data and see some of their figures. Also check out the .277 data with the 110 TSX.

But it seems that there is a 200fps or more increase across the board over the 150gr TSX. Still sounds like a good deer round.

Over 3000fps on a 308 win with a 130gr TSX should equal a hard hitting low recoiling, efficient powder burning round.
 
I might try them in my 308, I ususually use 150 gr ballistic tips for deer, but there was an offhand chance at an elk this year and the btips made me nervous.
 
They work great even on Moose seen about 5 deer and a mnt goat shot with them they all could not move after being hit heart lung--I used them in 308 Win. Best thing since sliced bread.
Shoot better than sierra match.
