Barnes 3030 TSX

I noticed these Flat Nose 150 gr TSX bullets on the Barnes site specifically designed for 3030. Has any one tried them? Does anyone know of a source for them in Canada?

I tried the search function here on CGN but nothing came up. Google only shows suppliers in the USA.
 
I love Barnes bullets, but can't see why at 30-30 velocities and the game we tend to hunt with 30-30's they are necessary. I use them when velocity is high, over 3000 fps and/or the game is big like moose.

I don't have any real workd experience with the 30-30, but I thought alot of the appeal was the performance of regular old roundnose bullets...whack...drop.
 
Spotted these too and had to buy a bunch - as soon as I get my .30-30 back from being converted to .30-30 AI, I can't wait to load 'em up! Target is somewhere around 2650-2700 fps...."ARR-ARRH-AARRRHH" (Tim Taylor)

Thats the type of enthusiasm I was lookin for. There is a fair amount of posting from US websites that show the 3030 TSX functions well.

Were you able to get them in Canada. I may have to get my cousin in the US to bring me some at Christmas.
 
anything other than the .30-30 Barnes bullets will just bounce off our game of today. Animals are tougher and more ornery these days. Bears are trying to kill people on boats now.
 
I have a bolt action Mdl 788 30-30

I cut down some cases a biut, and loaded 130gr TSX bullets in them, and got about 2500FPS.

That's a 2000+ yard no brainer load on deer.

Be nice if they offered 130gr FP for 30-30s for most lever guns...I'd bet it woudl make the 30-30 into a 200 yard + cartridge without to much guesstimation....

My 3030 is also a bolt. Perhaps 130 is the way to go if I can't get the Flat Nose 150s.

What exactly did you have to cut on the case and do you have any issues with feeding from the Mag. What are you loading?

Are we talking about 30-30, or the infamous 30-30 Gatehouse Imp.? :D:sniper:
