Barnes Brass

Barnes 30-06 cases have fairly thick walls, unlike Remington brass.

RJ: The reason I know they are different is because I make 9.3X57 cases from RP 30-06. I tried it with Barnes cases, and they were too thick in the shoulder area to form a proper neck, when shortened and resized. Whoever makes them, they are not run of the mill RP cases.

The only test sample of Barnes I've had to compare was a quantity of 300 AAC BO. Necks were annealed like Lapua brass is however, the Barnes brass had greater consistency in weight... weird. That's just this small test group. For consistency across the board I always favour Lapua for how it's quality has consistently compared beside other brands.

I'm genuinely curious about the source of Barnes brass and if every sample is of the quality of the small quantity I have in 300bo.

May also depend on the age of the brass, Barnes wasn't alway owned by Rem, pre-Rem could easily be something completely different. Be interesting to see if Sierra expand their ammo production to push Barnes.
