Barnes Bullets....Anyone Use Them?

Hey There

Go check out Youtube and type in barnes bullets. lots of usefull info on there. I use their 180gr triple shocks in my 30-378 weatherby and they are lethal on moose! good luck.

PS from the vids on youtube I think the varmint ammo would be kinda fun!!!!!!:p

I have used the tsx and the mrx,and hunting partners have used the tsx. They have always expanded properly, and always held together and penetrated deeper than heavier partitions.Accuracy has been great with no copper fouling.

Do you they work? Yes. Do you need them? No. Lots of folks here, including myself use the TSX and/or TTSX in various hunting calibers. I find that some of my rifles like them some don't so much, in which case I might go with Nosler Accubond or plain jane Hornady Interlock if only deer hunting. They are a good bullet, if you can find a load that your rifle loves, your golden.
I haven't used the varmint grenades myself, so I'll leave that comment for someone who has.
Overall though, I am happy using Barnes.

Barnes TSX 115gr. .257's in my 25-06. Very long bullet but my sporter Sako stabilizes them well. Expensive and too much bullet for your average whitetail or thin skinned game IMO.

varmint grenades have poor shape and wont work as well as other types of bullets at long range, due to increased loss of speed and more wind drift

I am trying to find a light flat shooting .243 bullet that I can shoot at high velocities for varmint hunting. I am looking for longer bullets, the 62gr Barnes is .965in long......light bullets in .243 are hard to find around 1 inch in length. I am thinking that the longer bullets may stabilize better in my Savage Model 14 with 1:9.25 twist.

Any suggestions on good .243 varmint bullets?

I've just run a bunch of Varmint Grenades through a 243. They drift in wind, have a poor B.C. After 200 yards, they don't hold up.

On the upside, we havn't had one exit a coyote yet.
