Barnes LXC vs. TSX - How different ?

What is the practical difference between Barnes' LXC bullets and their TSX's?

I picked up a box of 140 grain 6.5mm Barnes LXC bullets by mistake (I was looking for the TSX version). They look like a coated version of the Barnes X Bullet and I am looking for a bullet suitable for big game (I admit, the thought of a really long 140grain 6.5mm bullet appealled to me)

Based on the Barnes web site, it doesn't look like the LXC has the relief grooves.

Anyone out there with LXC experience on game?

XLC's are coated X bullets, designed to help the fouling problems with the original X bullet. You'll find them slower than a regular bullet until you add a couple-three grains of powder to get pressures/Speed back up to normal. The coating is very slippery and reduces pressures.

THey're now phasing them out and going with the Triple Shock X, with good reason. TSX are just as accurate or more accurate than the XLC and no coating problems and they dont foul much at all either. The 130 gr TSX in 6.5mm has been a terrific bullet for me in my 260 Remington. The 140 gr XLC however, in limited testing, hasnt given as good of accuracy. On game performance should be very good though. The 140 XLC wouldnt stabilize in my 1-9 twist barrel, but in my new 1-8 twist they do.

I think my Tikka (1:8) should stabilize it. I've read that they need more powder to get the velocity you'd expect from the same weight (conventional) bullet.

Might be better to start with the TSX right off the bat, as it looks like the XLC's were Barnes' solution to the copper fouling problem that people were getting with the regular X bullets (i.e. before the TSX).
