Barnes MRX bullet

I think this is the point where you have to wonder if they haven't crossed the line in over-engineering :)

I was looking at winchester's new psycho-tech bullet too - although i expect that'll come in at a lower price.

Looks like every bullet maker is endorsing the famous so called "plastic point".

Should be a good bullet, but probably pricy as Barnes are already $$$.

the way those promo articles read, you wonder how any game ever made it into freezers

Ya no doubt. I like this line "delivers the deep-penetrating, bone-smashing power needed for raking shots at large game." lol, gotta love it.

What is the main purpose of the "plastic tip" is it for expansion on impact?

And 'better' flight performance and distance. You can now hit an animal 410 yards away with a 10th of an inch better accuracy, instead of just 400 yards away.

I"m personally all a tingle :)

"guaranteed expansion" is supposed to be the secondary benefit. Some x class bullets had a rep in the past for 'pencilling' thru if they hit under the wrong circumstances.

Thanks Foxer, maybe i'll have to try a box of "plastic tip" bullets this year...just because they look so damb cool!!!

Well CTS - think about the construction and materials. It ain't gonna be cheap.

You might want to look at the XP3 from winchester, very similar design, but not quite as expensive i'd guess.

At the time I didn't have any desire to switch from the ballistic tips because no other bullet available at the time offered better penetration with the same accuracy at a reasonable price. The tsx does just that. The mrx however really offers no significant advantage over the tsx,and will likely cost several times more.
