ive been doing research on the Barnes TSX bullets. seem that i have found articles , on game preformance, and everyone is happy, no complaints, lots of mule deer taken with them, and a few whitetails stories. but none of the reports had anything under 200 yards. a few said that the deer dropped in its tracks, and yeah, i think for consistant track stop shots, heavier bone like a shoulder would have to be hit. and the others didnt say if well places shots resulted in lots of tracking.

what will a TSX traveling at 7mm rem mag do to a deer sized animal at about 140 grains? is this where a high speed bullet, that expands rapidly can fall apart? where the high speed actually helps the solid copper bullet expand quicker?. was also told by some of you 140 grain TSX in a 7mm will ruin a moose and elks day.

thats it, im deer hunting with a 9 iron or my wedge. ill just jump out of a tree on it.
lol

one thing i dont understand abotu a TSX, how does a solid copper bullet with a tiny round hole in the tip expand to have 4 petals? Nothing to smush out and separate it?!

i do not reload, does federal offer a 7mm rem mag 140 grain TSX? i can only find a 160 grain

I used the Federal 160gr TSX in my 7mm Rem mag last month on a bull moose at 100 yards. A quatering towards shot, the bullet entered at the junction of the neck and shoulder and, busted a rib on the way in, and was found in the kidney area on the opposite side resting against the hide. The bullet was just like the adds in the magazines. The bull staggered, took a step and I sent another one in his neck and that was it. I'll be using the same thing on mule deer next week.

From what I've read, I don't think you would have any problem on deer with a 140 TSX, it wouldn't fly apart and the speed would probably help with expansion. Federal only loads the 160 TSX in the 7mm Rem mag

The X bullet is pre-notched inside and the hydrolique pressure throught the hollow point opens up the bullet in the predetermined design.

If you want to try the TSX on deer with your 7mag, try the Federal 160, that what I'm doing! :)
