Barnes TTSX / LRX Grouping Issue

Hi everyone,

I have been shooting for years but still haven't cracked this issue. I hunt with Barnes bullets, but I can never seem to tighten my groups. My rifle is Tikka T3x Lite 30-06 (11" twist), and for reference, I get consistent 0.5" groups at 100 yards with ELD-X, SST, or BTSP. However, when it comes to 1) Barnes TTSX 150 grains or 2) LRX 175 grains, my groups open up significantly.

Here are my go-to Barnes loads:
- 150 grain TTSX: 51.5 grain IMR4064; 3.340" COL
- 175 grain LRX: 48.0 grain IMR4064; 3.340" COL
- My maximum magazine length is 3.340" so I stay under that.

It seems like Barnes bullets have always been a bit jumpy for me - wondering if I am missing something. Would appreciate any tips, whether it's charge weight adjustments, seating depth tweaks, or anything else that's worked for you.

Thanks in advance!
I have the same rifle and find with TTSX bullets I get better groups at COAL that is 0.50"-0.70" off the lands
give it a try and Please let me know if that works for you as well

One of my rifles bore copper fouling was bad, groups tightened up after bore de-copper. Sweet's 7.62 solvent works pretty good. Tipton bore solvent also good.

I agree on this post, Sweet's 7.62 is awesome to clean out copper. where are you getting the Sweet's 7.62 from? I can't find it without buying it Direct in bulk.

HUGH amount of ammonia in that #### 💩 Used it back in the 70 s but like dope I quit using it before all the brain cells died 🤣RJ

As a suggestion, When you finish the last of Sweets, try BoreTech Eliminator instead as works just as good or better, doesn't smell and you can leave it in the barrel overnight. No need to use a separate carbon solvent either. 👍
