I am having some problems seating these bullets in my 30-06 brass. I am using the 168g TTSX in .308 and every time I try to seat the bullet to the recommended COAL of 3.218 the last band on the bullet appears to bind on the brass and crushes it slightly. As a result the round won't chamber as the brass develops creases in it. I have changed my COAL to 3.240 and I am not having this problem and I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem or if there is any reason this is happening? In Barnes load data they list the COAL as 3.218" (max for the 30-06)

check to see if your die is set too low, causing it to crimp the brass before you get your bullet fully seated, this will crush your case. Back off the die then tighten down on your bullet seater to get the correct col

My money is on this, but the others are right- there's no reason to seat deeper, unless required to feed through the magazine, or for better accuracy.
