Any idea where a guy can buy some?
Wholesale doesn't list them, Epps can't bring them in as fast they sell, I have tried about 4 or 5 dealers with no luck yet.

Which of our sponsoring dealers has a good selection fo reloading supplies?

P.S. I am looking of r .22 cal 36gr.
 
I don't think they are illegal ( I can't see any reason why they would be as they are frangible not actually explosive.) but doubt they are PC enough to be sold in Canada
I might be wrong though

Epps has sold 40 boxes in less tha a week... they are popular.

Actually I see them listed on Russell's site, I have to wait 2 more hours to call them!

I'm pretty sure I remember seeing a few boxes on the shelves at Russell's a few weeks ago while I was in there. Hopefully they still have some in stock for you.

What is with Wholesale... you call them and they say, if it is not in the catalog, we don't have it! (yet they do) and a mail order company not open on a Saturday morning? WTF???
Bizarre.

I bought from Russell's which is owned by Wholesale but damn, they seem much better organized!

I would like to buy fromone of the sponsors but no one yet has a decent website and I do my shopping in the morning which means (being from the east coast) most of them are not yet open to answer my questions.
 
I shot some of the 20 cal grenades last week in my 204. The most accurate loads were 26 and 26.5 grains of Varget, tried 27, 27.5 and 28 grains as well.
Just have to load up some for our trip to Sask on the long weekend. FS
 
Just tried my Grenades today.
22-250, Varget powder, 6 shot groups Tikka T3 lite Stainless.

Results:
36.5 gr = 6" group
37.5 gr = 1 1/4" group
39.5 gr = 2 1/4" group


38.5 gr......... See pic:

If we discount the flyer, that's 5 bullets in 2 holes!!!

I have not heard of anyone having stellar results with the VG's in a Hornet. Lotsa guys swear by the 40 grain Vmax's though.

When i was looking at a box of 50gn VG's at P&D, a short while back, the box had a sticker on it that said that they should be used in a 1 in 10 twist or faster (IIRC).

Asked one of the fellows there and got the answer that it was because the heavier bullets need a slower twist barrel (???wtf???). OK , so he didn't know either.

Best I can come up with is that the way the bullets are built, relies on the higher rpms of the fast twist barrel for at least part of its fragmentation effect.

Dunno. Couldn't find anything online at the time, and pretty much found nothing to lead me to believe I needed to try these in my 1 in 14 twist .223, when it shoots Winchester bulk stuff as well as it does.

I will see what happens,if a no go then they will go in the T3 and i will continue to use the 40Gr V-max's in the Hornet.The Ruger shoots the v-max nice and tight!......well for a Hornet anyway. 1/2" at 100yds.

1/2" at 100 is well within minute of gopher, out to the ranges a Hornet is best for. No shame in that at all!

Yeah. At least you have a back-up use for the VG's.

I have some old Calhoons loaded up that I have to sight in. I'll see how that works out.

the 36-ers work fine in my hornet. Around .5" and they have 50% better BC than the 35 grainer VMAX. They also fit in the mag, not something the 40's can do. However, they're nowhere nearly as explosive as the VMAX
