Q: Can Barnes .224 cal 30 gr (Hornet) bullets be loaded for 223 rem. ?

Q: If so are there any things to avoid consider etc... as compared to Varmint Grenades that do not say Hornet ?

Thanks in advance for all the help

I'd say you can load them but I would guess that they aren't made to go 223 velocities.
Hodgdon lists 30gr bullets for 223 but only vg's so velocity is probably why.
They may come apart at minimum speeds.

I had excellent success with 36gr Barnes VG in a 1:7 24” 223. Just shy of 4000fps if I recall correctly.

And can state with certainty if you shoot a coon on your chicken coop doorstep at 40yds; all that energy gets converted (inside of the first coon in the stack) drop kicking the second coon in the stack with violence. Sold me.

My twist is 1 in 12. Would that be better or worse for the smaller bullets ?
Based upon your questions, you seem to know very little about the cartridge and bullets you want to reload. Maybe you should reconsider reloading at this time?

Possibly a little more reading and knowledge before you jump into building things that can blow up in your face?
