How are these working for everyone?

Has anyone tried them on coyotes or wolves this year? I would really like to know if they perform as well as Barnes claims and will stop inside the animal.

Thanks

I know the search function sucks, but there ARE a few threads discussing these.

I find they're less explosive than the 35 and 40 grain VMAX, but more explosive than the speer TNT when fired from my Hornet.

All together a rather unremarkable bullet, except for one thing: In my Hornet, they get the same velocities as the 35 VMAX, but with a 50% better BC.

I have shot them in my .223 and they are less damaging than a v-max because they fragment totally on entry.I have only shot 2 coyotes with them and I am not 100% confident that they are the right bullet for that job. To give you an idea of how they fragment I shot an empty pop can at about 100 yards, it had a normal entry hole and there was no large exit hole instead there was about 500 tiny exits (like a shotgun with #12 shot). On groudhogs they work great and have no risk of a ricochet although they don't destroy them like a v-max. They seem to react the same out of a 22 hornet or a
22-250 but like prosper said they have a great BC.
Good Luck.

Who stocks them as components or loaded bullets?
I would like to try them on some coyotes while they still have some good fur on them.

An added feature of the Grenade is the $25.00 you get to pay for 100 of them. FS

Yeah, that's right. They discontinued the Varminators replaced them with the grenades and way-upped the $$$. That's why we stocked up on the Varminators anywhere we could find them. The Varminators were a heck of a bargain.

all bullets are rising in price substantially. the last box of 250 grenades I bought was $55. Same as a 250 pack of nosler 40 grain BT's, and about two bucks more per hundred than the Hornady 40 grain VMAX.

All of the above are substantially more expensive than TNT's, hornady SP's or SPSX, or Remington/Winchester bulk SP's (or the sierra SP's, or the old Varminators for that matter)

A bud of mine picked up a box of the .22 Varmint Grenades at WSS in Winnipeg last week. He was kinda surprized they had them. Supposedly the 6mms are on thier way also.

most likely you bought Varminators, not Varmint Grenades

Varminators came in 40 & 55 grain, Varmint Grenades come in 36 gr and for 2008, 50 grain

Last time I checked I could still read and the boxes say:
VARMINT GRENADE
100 bullets
22436
22cal .224dia
36 gr hp
and the price tag clearly reads $15.99

I bought mine a while back, and while I cannot specifically remember the price, I do remember being impressed as they were cheaper than v-max or b-tips. I got them at WSS back in the Summer. Still have not whacked a yote with them yet, no time this winter.
