I picked up a box of Federal Premium barns expander slugs, and i didn't realize that these were designed for a rifled bbr. so my question is can i use these in a smooth bore shotgun with any accuracy? and if so how far?
I would also like to know if anyone has used them and what they think of them.
thanks for the info

DJ, you have asked a question that many (myself included) would like to know the answer to. Please, take the slugs to the range and try 50 and 100 yard shots. Report back with your findings, and you will make a real contribution to this board. If others who have already done this will add their experiences, then we will see if there are any similar results. Then we can know what the slugs do, instead of opining.

well I can do that, and see what the results are! they look just plain mean and look like they would open up to massive sizes. well for 16.00 a box of 5 they should!

These slugs are designed for a rifled barrel, and I beleive they won't be a proper fit for the smoothbore and may "tumble" down the barrel, giving you no groups at all.

I've fired rifled slugs down a rifled barrel, but never sabots down a smoothbore.
I think they'll be all over the board @ 50yds.
