Barrel break in HELPPP!!

Its a rare barrel that shoots better clean than fouled.

There is a big difference between a 'fouled' barrel and one that is laden with copper. A fouled barrel is simply a clean barrel that has been fired... and they shoot quite well. One laden with copper does not.

Just to emphasize a bore snake is not a good cleaning tool, they accumulate crud that becomes embedded and it's not a good idea to shove that down the bore for cleaning purposes....

I would polish my shoes with a bore snake but it would never touch my rifle.

Not that good for polishing shoes either.

Very good advice! Definitely not a good thing to pull through a barrel, or across your shoes.

use a one piece cleaning rod, a jag, tight fitting patch and insert through a properly fitting bore guide, 2 wet patches with your favorite voodoo liquid and 4 dry patches to remove said voodoo liquid..........now the packing grease and oil has been removed and you can shoot it.....

everything that goes down your new barrel will cause wear from one degree to another, so do you want to wear it out with a cleaning rod or a bullet? the new break in instructions from all the top barrel makers now is to shoot it, anything other then a bullet down the bore voids the warranty...............
