Barrel compatibility

Hey guys, I'm looking to get a new barrel threaded for chokes. I have an old rem 1100, 2.75" and 3" magnum.

Does anyone know if the new Rem 1100 barrels fit and work properly?

Yes a new 1100 barrel will work on your old 1100. An 1187 barrel will work also but you might need an 1187 forestock to as an 1100 forestock wont fit properly over the 1187 barrel ring.

I have not had one of the new barrels for example wsports sells in my hands yet to be sure. Will it fit YES. Will it function that I don't know and cannot see what they could have done to make it work from the original designs. What I am getting at it the old barrels has the one hole and two hole ports pending if you were shooting light target loads or 3" magnums.
They were not shoot all shells with one barrel like a 1187. So for those that seen the new barrels how did they acheive that, Or once again if you want choke tubes do you need a new barrel for 3" mag and another new one for target loads

Ok makes sense so the new barrels are really just the old remington design except fitted with rem choke tubes

My barrel has on gas port, and won't cycle 2.75" targets either. That is fine, I use it for waterfowl only.

So if you buy one of the new 3" steel shot ones that has the rem chokes you will be good to go. Correct

I'd be suprised if it will do 2 3/4 field loads if it is like the originals but it may. They would only do real heavy 2 3/4" magnums and not well. Love to get a look at the hole size in one of these new ones

Went to WSS today to get a barrel. When I looked at the gas ports it had two of them...I then looked at the shell size and it was only 2.75"...they DIDNT have 3"!! Very disappointed, I was looking forward to pattern testing it on Sunday.
