I'm having a .366 Wagner built on a pre-64 model 70 in an Echols legend stock. Trying to decide on a contour for the 21" tube. It will wear an necg banded front sight as well. I'm looking for the rifle to weigh Around 8 or 8.5 when said and done. What contour are you guys running?

You might get away with a #3 Shilen contour since you're keeping it short. If you were going to 24" I would recommend a #4 but the #3 should do for your purposes.

If it were me I would buy a blank and have my 'smith contour the blank so that it finishes at .610 at the muzzle which will allow you to mount the Model 3 NECG Masterpiece Banded Front Sight or .590" which will mount the Model 2. .590" will be a very skinny muzzle with that big a hole through it and will probably end up lighter than you want (you didn't mention if the 8-8.5 lb was with or without optics).

It depends on who's barrel you are using, barrel contour are not standard. A #3 from one maker may not be the same as a #3. Some uses Remington's contour as reference (Mountain, sporter standard, sporter magnum, varmint). When I had my .35 Whelen built I asked for a sporter magnum contour. If I remember correctly, the muzzle measures .610 at 22" and the rifle in a McMillan stock and Leupold scope weighs +/- 8.5 Lbs.
