Like a Savage 1920 ? Harold
I would, not sure if enough to afford one

First they are famous for the sticky power change, which can be fixed. Mostly preference, but just a little 'less' than the 2.5x8. Or a straight 6
I have it on a 250 savage and it works but it is what it is , not good enough to be as over priced as it is
The consensus seems to put the MR contour at about .550" at the muzzle. Benchmark #2 is .575" at the muzzle with a bit more of a taper than the MR contour. The #2 might be the right choice.
I really like them both, but I prefer the 3-9x36. Nice and trim, light, bright, crisp and very easy to look at. Both of mine are duplex.
Compared to the Leupold you mention, the smaller Swaro has constant eye relief and better glass. Better looking to my eye too. Near perfection in a big game hunting scope imo.
That is what I was expecting just wanted to check with someone with both
I have the 3x10 and it is sweet, but the same quality but trimmer works for me. I have the 4A in my 3x10 and like it a lot
I think you can hit your target with a 22" mountain contour barrel. I have a factory 700 mountain SS .30-06 that hits 7lbs even with a vx2 2-7. What does the B&C bdl stock weigh? My B&C mountain stock is 2 lbs even.
I want a 7 lb ish 300 Savage. Because I want one. I don't want an ultralight, I don't want anything with more 'oomph'. I have lots of 'oomph' in the safes thanks.
Where did I say I didn't care about weight?. And I'm not sure where your porky remark is coming from...
I asked for barrel contour opinions, not what cartridge everyone thinks is a better choice than .300 Savage.
I love the 300 savage caliber ! I only use it in a older gun, but would buy a new gun it if someone made it. (I am a Browning fan). Seems to me to be more powerful than 30-30 but not much more kick. I only used it on Deer and it was good for that. I found it to be really unexpectedly accurate in my Remington gamemaster. I only shoot brand made ammo.
My barrel is finished and has been shipped. I went with a Benchmark #2 contour by Bob Jury in Red Deer. I wanted to try out one of his barrels so here we go...now to track down a reamer and get this project moving along![]()
Dave Kiff at PTG can ship you the reamer... and can make custom adjustments if you want to tweak the throat etc...
