Is there any difference in barrel diameter between a 700 SPS Varmit in 223 or a 700 Police 223? I know the Police model has a 20 inch length barrel and the 700 SPS a 26 inch barrel I was wondering the diameter of both? Thanks Karl
The Police model has a 24" barrel, however since you said 20" barrel i believe you are refering to the LTR. Which, to my understanding, along with the Police model, have the same barrel profile as the Varmint series rifles, with the exception that the LTR is fluted.
The one I was looking at was a bull barrel not fluted in a houge stock I wonder what the twist is.??? The Varmit is suppose to be 1:12 the police model 1:9 I will be mostly shooting 62gr So 1:9 should better a better barrel twist rate for me
you were looking at the sps tactical i just brought one home today in 308 and i am o pumped to get it out for some range time. the 223 has a 1:9 twist.
An SPS is a replacement for the ADL. Both are entry level rifles.
"...The Police model has a 24" barrel..." 26" with a 1 in 9 rifling twist.
"...thats the one..." Isn't a 'Police'.
"...so many choices..." Pick one according to your budget. The Savage will likely be less expensive and shoot better out of the box.
"...Varmit..." That'd be VARMINT!
