What is the differance in a shot gun barrel for lead shot vs steel shot ?

your steel shot barrel and coke will be a little bit harder and usually doesn't have a full choke

I know about the choke thing,but not sure why.
I have a Browning B-80 with a mod choke,,,can I shoot steel shot with it?

Barrels for steel shot usually have a long forcing cone as well. The reason for a longer and reduced choke is that the steel shot does not deform in the barrel and therefore tends to fly straighter as in a tighter pattern for the same degree of choke.
