Are there any screw on barrel extenders available for AR15s? Need something ultra low profile, since I'd like to put one of those fake can sleeves over it, which covers around 5-6" of the barrel, and Im an inch or 2 short. I got a 16" barre.

Just so I understand correctly... You are looking for something that you can attach to your fake can that is an inch or two long and threaded for an AR? By low profile I assume you mean 3/4" O.D.?

If that is all you need, drop me a PM and I'm sure I could thread a chunk of steel straight through at 1/2X28 for you. It would take me a beer to do on the lathe.;)

You could weld your fake can on to that and be good to go...or do as Zykopat said and find an off the shelf solution. That or a local machinist who could do what I proposed to do. Them the choices as I see it...

Thats perfect, Thanks to both of you. My father has a lathe at his house, I could probably bribe him with beer. 1/2 x 28" are standard threads on most ARs, I take it? I got a 16" RRA mid length from Questar.

The only thing that concerns me is craftsmanship. Its gotta be perfectly in-line with the barrel. is that something that can be difficult to achieve or fairly straight forward, if you got the right piece of steel?

If your Dad has a lathe you are good to go! I would be using a tap because I don't have the feed drive he likely does. 1/2"x28 tpi is what you want him to thread it for. It is not a 'standard' thead pitch so to speak (albeit NEF). You won't find it as a tap or die as a hardware store item.

Have him sort out the feed ratio for the aforementioned thread and spin you up something that mounts the fake can. Post pics if you can...Sounds cool.

Edited to add...With a lathe and a competent operator, you should have no problem with it being concentric. I would keep it at ~1/2 ID to allow plenty of room. As long as the ID is good and it mounts parallel to the bore you should be fine.
